I actually believe him when he says that the focus is on games. That was the impression I received from the PS4 event. That event was practically all about gamers and games. They mentioned the media hub stuff but almost immediately went on to talk about the features that affect gamers about games. Game sharing, recording, even its social aspects were focused on the gaming part of it. The focus of the entire event was very "game console".

Xbox One's event however...

I don't buy used games or lend my games out either but that doesn't mean I have no problem with DRM. Just because something doesn't affect you personally doesn't mean it doesn't hurt others. I may not use Gamestop or used games but I don't overlook the fact that a lot of gamers do.

DRM has never been an issue for me personally but I still support the 'movement' of not having DRM on PS4.

With prices the way they are and work b...

Least PS4 has gankai. I'm hoping they'll 'read' all your past PSN purchases and unlocks them to be stream-playable for free. Having to repurchase a game just to play it on PS3 is kinda annoying, especially on ones that aren't "remastered" - but having to AGAIN pay for it on PS4? Just how many "remastered" versions are we expected to keep purchasing just to play a title we've already bought twice?

So... am I the only one who only found maybe two or three of these to be 'weird'?

This is immensely disturbing but not terribly surprising. As much as gamers and anyone who are actually educated on what it does all unanimously disapprove of it, the 'average Joe' gamer out there who doesn't actually follow these events or news stories but just play the games won't care. Chances are that only a small percentage of purchasers even know about this stuff. To them its just "oh look the next 360 awesome!"

Microsoft can get away with /any...

Honestly after the Xbox One announcement and all the negatively its been receiving a better question would be what would PS4 need to do to LOSE the next gen battle? Really it seems like they'd have to actively try to lose if they can get beaten at this point...

I don't care about having gay romance options since more choice is a good thing for games (even though personally a homo-Shep seems weird). Regardless I can't be the only one who didn't appreciate them turning Kaidan gay. It's one thing to introduce a new character and establish them as gay, its another thing entirely to just flip the sexual-orientation switch on a character that has already been established as hetro.

Bioware made a similar mistake with their...

I'll never get an Xbox as long as microsoft charges for multiplayer services. When I purchase a game I like to know I can enjoy the multiplayer when I get home without worrying about a subscription.

I checked. Xbox apparently doesn't have it. My mistake. I just assumed it would - can't imagine why it doesn't. I play the Playstation 3 version which does have a full combo-ish pack in the form of "Mass Effect™ 3 Multiplayer Collection" which is a single DLC that contains all the multiplayer expansions.

Like I said, I assumed this DLC would be universal. Regardless of this I still stand my by earlier statement in regards to all this being silly.

You know they did come out with a "Full Combo" type pack which has all the MP DLC in one package. Instead of downloading four others it would had been easier to just download that. If you had a party all set up and didnt need to PUG you could had just checked to see you all had the same DLC and not bother getting the others.

Considering the DLC adds like dozens of new characters of all races and playstyles, lots of maps and even new map/mission modes all for the ver...

I agree. This talk of allowing devs to 'censor' parts of their game sounds like a horrible idea to me.

PVR's won't have this limitation, just players who only use the Share feature. All this censorship will do is gimp the average consumer who doesn't have an PVR.

Funny. I spent a similar amount of time on mine aswell. Multiple playthroughs, all achievements/trophies obtained, every side quest complete. What did I learn? Bit of a waste of time considering none of your choices really made any difference in the end.

4643d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

Thing is that they wont be able to stop those game-recording devices that are already out on the market. People could still work around it, all this censorship would be doing is denying something to the normal consumer.

Whats really unforgivable is the idea of having the ability to take a screenshot but choosing to turn it off on some levels. Come on, consoles. PC has been able to take screenshots at anytime since practically the start... It's time for consoles to step u...

Yeah, because these law-suites always work out. Just like Mass Effect 3's, where they flat out lied and mislead the consumer base without as a much as a "may not represent final product" notice.

"Choices will matter, won't be ABC."

Choices don't matter, was ABC.

Nothing came of that. I doubt anything will come of this. The amount of immunity the game industry receives is disturbing sometimes. Sure, when they ha...

PS4 will always win me over for its free online. Plus I remember how well Microsoft handled their last console release... no RRoD for me this time, thanks.

@EvilDead

I seriously and sincerely believe that anyone who was a 'huge fan' of Mass Effect would not had loved the ending of Mass Effect 3.

Also, every critic had zero issues with the ending? You mean those few that were paid off by EA to give them near-perfect scores? Sure. Lets not look at the literally hundreds of other critics and reviews that flooded N4G for MONTHS talking about how piss-poor the endings were. They so don't count, because th...

It's just easier and less expensive. Plus some people prefer to game comfortably on their couch/bed and not be tied to their desktop. You can work around that on a PC, sure, but it isn't as simple as just plugging your console into your tv.

PC gaming performance graphically degrades over time, too, which is a major issue to me. What may be a stunning Ultra-Resolution-Setting gaming rig today may only be able to handle games on medium/low quality a few years down the l...

Pretty sure the whole point of PS4's "Share" button is that players can record live gameplay and upload/share it online.

Sure these expensive boxes will probably give you more tools at your disposal and make editing more convenient, but the case remains that you won't NEED one of these to share gameplay videos.

Not sure why anyone would disagree with that, its just a fact.

Going to be nice when PS4 comes out and people won't need to buy these expensive gadgets just to share gameplay videos.
