I feel exactly the same way (kind of sorry for Visceral, they're a great studio).

I love the Christian symbolism and overall art direction in this game. It's a refreshing change of pace. I watched all the dev diary videos they did for this, and I think they put a ton of thought into the depiction of Hell and the realization of the punishments that Dante described. They clearly spent a lot of time with the source material even though the story is heavily mutated to make it an act...

I think we should just get it over with and some brave studio should give us a straight up AO ESRB rated AAA title. Maybe Rockstar has the stones to do it.

Based on the PS3 demo not even working on release, and it being handled by SEGA who have boned other PS3 stuff, I'm guessing this'll be a trainwreck on consoles (or maybe just the PS3). If I do pick this up I may wait for a sale on Steam and go PC instead of the 360 or PS3 for this title.

I'm glad I didn't get sucked in on a pre-order for this... I still have the original PC game and it was EPIC at the time so I almost impulse pre-ordered when I first saw it announced.

Spec Ops was a cool and significant addition to MW2. It seems like everyone just blows that off. MW2 is great fun while you're waiting for BFBC2 to drop and if you're not into MAG.

"better than Uncharted 2" is the latest internet meme!

Try the new "McRib from McDonald's it's better than Uncharted 2!"
Come see the new James Cameron movie! It's better than Uncharted 2!

In the future all PC games will be console ports. :(

You know I'm super disappointed when I play online FPSs and some games at least half of the XBL or PSN account IDs are pot references. I'm not even really AGAINST doobage, but it seems astonishingly juvenile to associate your online identity with it.

Seems like the FPSs are by far the worst, too, which is weird, because they don't seem mellow enough for that demographic.

Anyway, BRILLIANT post HV...

@MGSR: Yeah that's an awesome idea. Let's start comparing game engines for adventure games with FPSs. That makes HUGE amounts of sense given that the two game types have diametrically opposed requirements! (rolls eyes).

This review approach makes much more sense with an online only game to me too. An online only game with dedicated servers maintained by the manufacturer is as much a service as it is a retail product and as such merits a different review methodology from a traditional stand alone product.

I LOVE MAG, but am not shocked by the extreme ups and downs the scores have shown from reviewers. In fact, I thought it would lean much more toward the negative in general because it is a genre buster.

@pixelsword: excellent analysis. Your comments apply to not only reviewers but players. You can tell a lot of people who don't "get" it are really frustrated by those that do, too. I think this game feels almost threatening to some people who don't get it, in fact.

I know they're OLD but, man, the Syphon Filter games might be my two favorite PSP games. It seems those get completely overlooked by people who are just getting into the PSP. The GTA stuff is really good, admittedly but SF is from the same era as the first two but does not have the brand recognition. If you are a PSP fan and do not have them, yet, get 'em ASAP.

@RH06: It was a JOKE. I'm a HUGE PSP fan, I have four of them. It breaks my heart that some developers have struggled to find a profitable situation with the device.

All things being equal, I'd get the PS3 version since the PS3 version has extra content on the disc (presumably due to the free storage on the BD format disc).

No. Will give most football fans a 3 million dollar 30-second break to piss between commercials for products that actually interest them: beer, trucks, Doritos, etc.

EA should have spent $3M subsidizing the development costs for the game so that the already completed expansion pack could have been added to the base game (multiplayer, co-op, level editor, etc) making it 9.x scored game that brings something new to the genre rather a 7.x scored game that clones the current King of ...

It has the potential to be a fantastic addition to the PSP line up... The PSP doesn't have Darksiders or Bayonetta or a new God of War game coming out this year.

It basically has one (excellent) game in this genre (Chains of Olympus) that was released about two years ago. Chains of Olympus proved that the PSP control scheme was no a huge problem for this type of game and that Hack/Slash can be brilliant on the portable. So I'm hopeful for DI PSP. Even if it is not AAA PS3/360 ti...

IGN are a bunch of morons who would say ANYTHING to generate traffic for their WWW site. Because traffic == revenue for a blog.

Ironically, the WORSE their product is (ie. the more biased and intentionally offensive/controversial) the more traffic they get and the more money they make. This encourages intentional stupidity.

Lord help us if blog/news sites are going to kill traditional journalism once and for all.

So anyway: BOYCOTT IGN. Not because you...

Actually, I was having trouble getting critical mass for domination @ about 12AM PST last night as Raven. I never did manage to have enough patience to sit in the queue long enough to get a game. I ended up playing acquisition instead but had to wait in the queue a fair bit, too. To the point where I went in a different room to mess around and listened for the mission briefing audio to know when the game was starting.

It was pretty disappointing having this happen with the game b...

Ya know sometimes, I feel like I'm the only person out of the 12 million who loved this game. I played COD4, loved it, MW2 was really more of the same with some new stuff mixed in, so I loved it, too. I still don't get WTF all you haters were expecting and why you take some of the problems that are annoying but can be worked around as deal breakers that need to be harped on endlessly and religiously. I've been playing this game for months (PS3 version) with no major problems.

I agree with your general sentiment "already a great year for hack and slash" but strongly disagree with singling out Bayonetta as anything particularly exceptional among this year's strong line-up, hardly goty material, especially this early in a year that is going to give us stuff like Gow3, Heavy Rain, BFBC2, MOH, Red Dead Redemption, et al, IMHO.

As a matter of fact this year is going to be WAY too good... to the point straining my pocket book with all the great st...
