Xbox got burned pretty good by Nvidia in the past with the royalties they wanted, so chances are if they did anything non-AMD, it would be Intel.

I say good... MicroSOFT never did well at hardware, they need to stick to their namesake and deal in software and services. That is what made them their billions.
They are signaling the inevitable, that Xbox as a console brand's days are numbered. They have no need for it anymore. They want to be a gaming publisher and service, not a hardware manufacturer.
