Activision/Blizzard has 13,000 employees, Bethesda has approx 2300. So 15,300 total... They laid off 1,900. That's almost 12.5% of the total workforce of both Activision and Zenimax/Bethesda combined. More than 1 out of every 10 heads got cut...
You're basing this on outdated info... they dropped the whole GaaS thing when Ryan was given the boot.
Halo: Temporary
I think the game subscription service bubble will have popped by then, just like it's popping right now for movie and show subscription services. It's evolving the exact same way... A couple services pop up that offer it all, the content providers start getting greedy and decide to launch their own services and begin pulling content from the original services to make it exclusive to their own, people get sick of having to have 10 different subs pulling $100 a month out of their accoun...
Neon, that may be the point, but my point is they must do so in software, there is no hardware decompressors available for kraken on PC, and PS5 is the only console that has it.
They want WAY more than PS+ Premium costs, and this site is trying to spin it as if PS fans are missing out by not getting ripped off by Ubisoft...
I'm comfortable with never giving Ubisoft a penny again.
As others have pointed out, you're trying to drag the goal posts onto another field just to create a debate where there is none...
However, PS5 is the only console that features hardware Kraken compressors/decompressors, even if used in PCs it must be done via software on the CPU or GPU, taking resources away from those. So, even the argument you're trying to create here is dead from the start.
Makes you realize how important that Kraken hardware decompressor in PS5 really is...
"PS5's HDD won't lead to any noticeable advantages"... yeah, right. Haters shut down again.
Just tipping the hat to all the disagrees I've had over the years when saying MS was going to become a third party developer... One step closer.
PS5 Pro is needed for enthusiasts, which is what it targets. Those of us who want our PSVR2 games running at native resolution, 120fps, those of us who want ray tracing on every game, those of us who want 4k60 on every game... They can easily squeeze another 15 million sales out of that if they release the Pro this year, just like they did with PS4 Pro. I'll be there on launch day to pick one up, and I'll be gifting my sister my old PS5 along the way.
A list about being aroused by fictional characters... Which is pretty sad.
They need to be thinking about alternatives to a next gen... Like going 3rd party, just selling software, like their name suggests.
Switch isn't "this generation".
Microsoft doesn't either, which is why they have openly admitted that if subscriptions do not dramatically increase by 2027 it's going to drive them out of the console business entirely.
For reference, it would take 335 days to walk across the earth, assuming there was a water-free path across the entire equator and you never stopped.
That's still nearly 1 out of every 10 heads (8.6%)... that isn't a small number. It's such a large number, that it is unlikely that they're all just janitors and office workers like you seem to be trying to imply.
