Moore's Law is Dead makes a really good point in this video... Gamepass has not gained a single subscriber over where it was 2 years ago. It has not grown at all... and this is likely what caused Microsoft to force Phil to start releasing games on more platforms. It's likely why Phil said they'd get out of consoles by 2027 if they didn't dramatically pick up the pace with GamePass subs. Then there's the fact that the 34 million gamepass subscribers they mention also includ...

"When we look at the state of our medium, we see players increasingly gaming on multiple devices, but their experience is defined by the fragmentation created by platform silos. Multi-device players have to navigate multiple identities, entitlement libraries, communities, wallets, and reward programs. Similarly, the industry’s biggest franchises increasingly ship across multiple devices, requiring creators to build and manage multiple instances of their games, leading to higher costs and...

"I don't care about who agrees with who I care about being right."

You're doing a whole lot of being wrong to care so much about being right.

"There is no fundamental change on our approach to exclusivity."

Yet they're releasing exclusives on competing consoles now, which in itself, is a fundamental change. They are in wait and see mode... if these games profit as much or more than they did on Xbox, Micr...

Obscure, you're hilariously desperate.

Phil himself wouldn't rule out that Starfield, Halo, Gears, or any Xbox franchise would come to PS5. They literally said they're going to "wait and see" how these 4 games turn out... this is a trial run. If they sell, more will come... and they will. Unlike you guys, we PS5 gamers actually buy games. I personally don't care for any of those titles (Maybe Halo, I did enjoy the first one), but there's over ...

Bathyj called it, they came parroting on the post right beneath his, lol.

Microsoft is making their games multiplatform because Xbox as a brand is going to go out of business if they do not. Phil himself said it, when he said in order to keep those great Xbox franchises going, they needed to expand the audience they could sell to. Yes, Microsoft has billions to throw around, but no, their shareholders aren't going to let them piss it all away in failed attempt after fa...

You're so desperate, lol.

"If the goal is more people playing games and more people discovering them, why just these four games and not more? You say you want to learn from these, but surely if they’re hugely successful and you see that more people are playing them, then you’ll do more in the future, right?

Yeah, but we haven’t seen that yet."

Translated: If they sell well, yes, we're going to keep releasing more of ou...

Releasing games on PC and releasing them on rival consoles is a world apart... PC only makes sense, as it is a separate community of enthusiast players who don't directly compete against console sales, most PC gamers also have consoles for the convenience of it... However, releasing a game on a rival console reduces the need to even have your console at all, especially if there's a bunch of exclusives on that other console that are not available on yours. Sony is in a strong position ...

To get one "really good" enough to make it worth buying over a console, it would cost a lot more. A PC that could outperform a PS5 Pro won't be cheap... definitely not $500.

Nothing but 4 games they wouldn't name...

Then they spent the next half hour making the case to release more... so much for "That's all you gonna get on both PlayStation and Nintendo!" lolololol

Funny how they only glossed over gamepass for a minute or two, same with any plans on releasing a new console, but they spent almost the entire podcast talking about how releasing games on multiple consoles is a good thing and necessary to keep...

It was speculated Xbox had a handful of games going multiplat that they'd announce on this podcast. - PROVEN
It was speculated that GamePass wouldn't remain day 1 for all games anymore... They failed to address it, leaving the door wide open for that.
It was suggested that they have yet to commit to making a new console, they only confirm they have a roadmap, but not concrete p...

@probono

They failed to address the rumors of gamepass no longer having day 1 games.
Those games very likely still will come to PS5, they just weren't announced today. They spent a half our explaining why they want to release as many games as possible on other consoles, but you must have had your hands over your ears during that part.
They didn't say they were making a new console, only that they had a roadmap... leaving an off-ramp should they lat...

This isn't a commitment to make a new console, it's a commitment to a road map... key words. They left an off-ramp there, just as I predicted 2 days ago.

He said 4 games are currently announced to be coming, and then spent the next half hour explaining to you why more announcements in the future is a good thing for the Xbox ecosystem... but you didn't want to hear that, so all you heard was "4 games". As mentioned above, this is slow boiling the frog so it doesn't jump ship. They want to keep the players they have on Xbox currently, while desensitizing you all to the idea of your exclusives no longer being exclusive. Before l...

Sony agrees that PC is a good platform to target more aggressively, but Xbox doesn't sell enough to bother losing exclusives to... unlike Microsoft, who admittedly has to go multiplatform just to be able to keep funding new games, because Xbox's install base is too small to sell to exclusively, Sony is not in that position, they actually do have an advantage to gain by keeping their games console exclusive.

849d ago 12 agree13 disagreeView comment

The rumors weren't false... the specific games announced weren't correct (2 of them at least), but the fact that multiple Xbox games are coming to PS5 and Switch was not false, and the fact that Microsoft plans to release more (as many as possible, according to them) as time goes on... all proven true. Xbox is now a third party development studio. They even have designed a system to enable you to not only crossplay, but carry your saves across Xbox, switch, PS5, etc... they wouldn'...

Exactly, these 4 are just to get people used to the idea of Xbox no longer having exclusives, they wouldn't have spent the next 30 minutes saying "we want our games on as many screens as possible" if that wasn't the case.

849d ago 17 agree2 disagreeView comment

Case by case, but they spent 30 minutes making the case for bringing as many games as they can to other platforms.

849d ago 16 agree6 disagreeView comment

They opened by saying "only 4 games", then spent the rest of the podcast justifying why bringing more games to other platforms is a good thing... which, as I called out 2 days ago, the 4 games is just them desensitizing their player base to the idea of them going full on multiplatform, and as more games get announced, they are going to start releasing them on other consoles as well. It'll probably start with a "first on Xbox", but before long they'll want to keep c...

I'd love to be able to build military bases, start wars with dozens of active players at once... go on an interplanetary bombing run, sneak into other bases and plant bombs in them or steal equipment (with some cool stealth kill options)... The game is still way too much flying over mostly identical barren land... My grandmother was watching me play the other day, and made the comment "It just looks like you're walking through the same area over and over again.", and she'...
