Cross game chat is on Vita. And if you want to discuss failed experiments, what of Virtual Boy? Kin? Every company puts out products that don't do well. And yes, developers won't bother if they know not everyone has a Vita, unless they already put in the code for the Wii U version and it's just a matter of porting, or unless they are a Sony first party studio who's parent company has a vested interest in promoting such a feature.
onlink, Wii U's controller...
May want to see what Sony does with Vita first, because so far all I've seen is a PS3 with a vita duct taped do it (but theirs is much less powerful, and you can't take it on the go with you). Sony has already said they are experimenting with the same type of functionality with Vita, and if you already own a PS3 it would cost less to get one than a Wii U.
the future of gaming! because he says so...
Actually, Peaceful Jelly, you're wrong. PS3 does have 256MB of system RAM and 256MB of video RAM (which can also tap into system's 256 if it needs to), however a feature like cross game chat is not something that would eat up so much RAM that they couldn't do it. Move/eye probably eats up more RAM than that. Also, they have been steadily shrinking the OS RAM footprint with each FW update release.
It is most likely caught up in red tape. Keep in mind that in order...
comparing this game to halo... we all know what his console preference is by that line alone. this is apples to oranges to a space marine FPS.
Well, my 4 year old laptop also has Radeon graphics, so until we know exactly what model of Radeon it is based on, this doesn't tell us much.
GTZ... ever heard of Andriod? That's an OS.
Because BF does it for free?
Yes ladies and gentlemen, the future of gaming. You are the cheerleader!
@Yoda, 360 saw more exclusives this year than PS3? Last year too? I want some of what you're smoking!
About as much as Sony secretly won E3 2006.
with purple bullets!
space marines shooting at each other online? wasn't that what the last 5 halo games were about?
Sony did announce new IP. There's that third party FPS exclusive (yes, not sony, but a new exclusive ip none the less), the new move game from the makers of sports champions also (just off the top of my head, there may have been more).
My point is, Sony this gen has demonstrated they are willing to take risks and release new IP. Motorstorm, Uncharted, LBP, Infamous, fl0wer, pixeljunk anything... all great games that were never before seen prior to ps3. Uncharted and LBP ...
Actually, if you want to go look at the pre-move videos from 2004 where Sony was experimenting with balls on the top of wooden sticks as a controller, you'll see they even copied Sony on that one as well with Wiimote.
That said, Sony did blatantly copy analog control (analog does not = joystick, joysticks had digital control in consoles until the n64), such is the videogame business.
Interesting, yes, but back in the game? I just don't see Wii U doing as well as Wii did. Also, did Nintendo unveil a single new IP the entire conference? All I saw was even more sequels and spin offs.
"It's a safe assumption the Wii U will have netflix streaming in 1080p HD, so I fail to see why I would also need a blu-ray player. "
Well, if you like 9MBPS 1080p vs. 20-30 MBPS 1080p, then yeah. And we're not even beginning to touch on 3D either...
I want two, one for my ps3 and one for my pc.
I believe MS thought "hey, kinect sold 10 million, do EXACTLY what we did last time, it worked!", and of course it didn't. Back then people were still sold on the promises that we'd see kinect used in real games (not just menu screens for customizing guns or looking at cars... or voice commands, which we've had since the N64/Dreamcast days), and all we got was "...oh no. it's captions hook!" and sesame street. They came through with object scanning, and the...
"when ever people mention vita when wiiu is being spoken about i roll my eyes. as if vita and pas3 can be turned into a wiiu... talk about opportunistic! "
Um, because it can. Because Sony has been talking about such connectivity all along, yet now nintendo rolls out the same damn thing (but a gimped version of it, you can't take the controller on the go with you and the console can't even play blu-ray discs) and suddenly Sony is bad for being "opportun...
