The ads generate revenue. The DLC generates revenue, the movie rentals generate revenue, the game downloads generate revenue, and on top of all that, the $60 a year (that you have to pay if you want to play online) generates revenue.
It's no wonder you see articles like this:

After all that, they still had the nerve to jack the...
My biggest gripe with it too, and currently the only reason I have not bought a 360 (since they seem to have fixed RROD). Live is a great service, and I do think some aspects of it should be charged for, but I just can't let myself pay to do what every other gamer on every other platform gets for free.
If MS would pull their heads out of their butts and go free online play, I'd pick up a 360 and probably would get a live paid subscription as well just to access the e...
PlayStatoin/Saturn were the death blow to arcades. From that moment on, the consoles always stayed a step ahead of the arcades. Before that it was "Arcade like graphics in the home!" as the bar to be reached with a home console. not anymore. you're lucky to get the other way around now.
History + the peek they've given us at the future do not bode well for them. That, and I just have a hard time believing anything that comes out of Kudo's mouth. I mean, after all, it is THIS guy we're talking about.
2 games, actually. gt5 and the fight.
Launching with hardware that is 6 years too late while relying on the controller to sell the system... Where have I heard this before?
However, unlike last time, I'm not so sure the screen in the controller approach will appeal to the casual market that made Wii what it is, especially if they can only use one at a time.
Except for PS3 being able to play PS1 game discs. It also makes no mention of remote play.
Unfortunately for you IMP, you get both.
Actually, you need to do some research. Software is software, which means the XBOX (not Kinect) is what is doing the processing. That renders kinect nothing more than a microphone when it comes to voice commands (a few mics actually, but that is irrelevant.). The only thing Kinect is doing is passing that voice data on to the Xbox to process. The same exact thing would be possible with a headset or any other microphone for that matter. Pass the voice signal on to the Xbox, then Xbox uses the ...
Optional, if you only like playing 2-3 good exclusive games a year.
If you disagree with me, just watch the MS E3 conference again, and you'll see your proof. Better get used to skittles and captain hook.
Who cares if you can only play the game with Move or not? How does that suddenly make it a better game? Killzone 3 is amazing with Move, as is MAG, Sports Champions is actually a great game, and just about every game at sony's e3 conference was move enabled. yes, sorcery looks cool, as did the new game they showed at E3, but I'm more interested in the shooters that use it personally.
Whether you can use a standard controller or not shouldn't be used as a metric to...
A sensitivity setting would easily fix that.
Plug mouse and keyboard into the usb ports on the front of the PS3, and you're good to go. The downside is not many games support it.
What he's trying to say is we've sort of reached a point of diminishing returns when it comes to ultra powerful GPU's. The graphics have been getting cleaner, but not necessarily better. We've gotten "close enough" to pre-rendered CG that the average person who isn't a tech geek isn't really going to notice a little tesselation or increase in texture/poly/shader resolution enough to convince them to open their wallet and drop the several hundred for a new con...
Remember, having a lot of space does not mean you can just cram a game on it and it'll run ok. You can have an olympic sized swimming pool (all the game data), but if you're using a drinking straw to drain (load) it, you're not going to get very far unless you have a lot of time to waste.
Gamingdroid, I work in the video/television production industry (I own my own production company) and have been for almost 14 years now. I am fully qualified to tell you that Blu-Ray from a technical standpoint, even at it's earliest spec, is better than HD-DVD. The extra 10GB's allows for much higher data rates. At 25mbps (half or less of the bitrate many professional HD formats use), you're only going to get about 1.5 hours of video on a HD-DVD disc. Start crunching down lower t...
charlie sheen loves his kinect. both of them are on rails constantly.
Did you not read the article? 5 inputs, 4 have to be wiimotes.
And with that statement they officially crippled their console. Think of when parents buy this thing for their kids (the very casual market that supported Wii). Think of the fights that will break out over who gets to hold the "real" controller, and who gets stuck with the wiimote.
Sony does all that stuff as well without the cost. And without the ads all over the place as well. They're keeping that loot. Don't try to make yourself think otherwise. Nothing wrong with making the money if they can convince people into giving it to them, but don't try to dress it up as something it isn't.
