It's worth just buying it for the 2D game, you get 3 games in one, and they're classic racing games that are well respected in their genre. The VR is a free update.
It was actually what people said about DC that made me say that. I too don't get sick from VR, but I do know people that can't play a driving game in VR without tearing the helmet off. If you're one of those people, this game will definitely do it. As mentioned, there are comfort settings that can help, like making it so you can't see out of the sides of the cockpit as much.
Most definitely one of my top VR experiences yet, though if you're prone to motion sickness, don't even think about it. I even have to close my eyes from time to time when doing loops and such.... but that's the beauty of it, you'd be doing the same thing if you were piloting one of those ships in real life.
Yeah, if I had a dollar for every "PSVR is failing" article I've seen, I'd be able to buy a few PSVRs.
PSVR is doing better than ever. Each new game I get becomes even more addicting than the last. RE7 started the trend, then Doom VFR provided another solid AAA experience. Wipeout Omega Collection showed how the game was always means to be played, Moss proves that platformers can be better in VR, Last Guardian is coming to VR as is ZOE2, Ace Combat, Super Hot, Knockout League, all top quality gaming experiences either recently or soon to be released. Over 100 games so far, and it just got $100...
It is awesome. I won't go back to playing it in 2D.
You may see the "Pro" versions of the upcoming consoles support a limited, lower quality form of this.
The fact that all of the reviews have the same complaint, that the game lacks substance, is good evidence that the game actually does lack substance.
They know how much flak they're going to catch once the public realizes that cloud destruction tech doesn't work as well in the wild on the actual internet as it does in their controlled testing/demo environments.
Virtual Mortality would have worked better as a name.
How can an article that has been reported twice and doesn't have all 10 approvals end up on the hottest list? N4G, your system is broken.
As a tech demo, it is fascinating. I could see fighting games in AR taking off if it were done properly (and not on a cell phone with crappy control).
I don't like the concept of applying AA to images after rendering, as you are reducing the image quality by doing so. You are blurring the edges instead of doing the wide variety of techniques used during the rendering process to make the edges not appear jagged while still retaining sharpness.
While Nintendo is certainly to thank for the industry taking off to the point it is at now, Atari forged the market. There were other consoles before them, but they were the first to make gaming a mainstream thing. They also were part of destroying the market when people realized it was something that could be cashed in on and the lack of quality control meant a flood of garbage games ended up on store shelves, some that were fundamentally broken. Nintendo then resurrected it a few years late...
MS is realizing, after 4 consoles and no real profit to show for it once losses are factored in, that they are fighting a losing battle. So, Xbox becomes a service, Microsoft games appear on other systems. They're basically pulling a 21st century version of what Sega did.
I'm enjoying the bomberman clone that is being given away for free on PS+ this month... bombing busters I think it was. It's well designed and very challenging.
Not to mention, he's literally trying to hype an always online console... as if that didn't just bite them this generation. "Just wait a while, when we don't even need the console anymore."
That said, we all know Sony will jump on that train as soon as they see a chance as well. There's a reason PSNow exists. They all want that control. Some just realize we ain't buying it... yet.
Best first party stuff I've seen from Microsoft in a very long time. I'll probably pick this up on PC.
If you're sensitive to it, this isn't your game. I have no issues playing for extended periods.
