Rachel, you shouldn't post things that have like 10 different edits clarifying where the OP went wrong.

It hasn't even happened entirely on farms of high powered servers given as much as days per frame to render, which is why so much movie CG sucks despite being given the above advantage when rendering.

"Crap, there are tons of new VR games being announced, new VR devices are still releasing, we need to figure out a way we can try to say it is dying that won't fly in the face of reality... I got it!!! VR is dying a SLOOOOW death... That'll work!"

If they created all of their textures 8 bit, and the game was designed to output 8 bit, then it's a lot more than just flipping the HDR switch on in order to get more out of it. Just like upscaling 1080p to 4K doesn't give you 4K, upscaling content made for 8 bit to HDR isn't going to look much better, and it also comes with the cost of gamma levels getting messed up.

So now our consoles can record everything we do and say in front of our cameras and sell it to advertisers?

Just more evidence that this game is vaporware. The cloud tech doesn't work in the wild, and it will never release.

When the screen is that close to your eyes, even FHD screens exhibit a decent amount of the "screen door effect" and resolving fine details like text becomes difficult if it is too small. However, we're in the very early days of VR, so we can't expect it to be perfect. I'm curious to see if these new 1000dpi screens Sony is developing end up in the new PSVR headset.

Xbox was designed to be the "Direct X Box" That Microsoft was going to use to take over the digital living room. Flaw numero uno was walling it off from the world of PCs. Had they taken this approach from the beginning, made all PC games compatible with the console and vice versa (which they're not quite there, but getting there), they would have been a far bigger competitor to Sony.

Wipeout can be played entirely without VR, but VR is by far the best way to play it, and it is worth buying just for VR. So, it counts, just like Dreams does. Sure, you can build worlds on a 2D screen, but being able to interact with them in motion tracked 3D is a different story and will make creating them far easier. Astro Bot is based on the playroom's most popular title, Robot Rescue, which fans have been literally begging Sony to make into a full game since PSVR launched (there have ...

Wasn't this fad supposed to have died by now, like PS Move games did? I keep seeing this increasing flow of great games, my wallet keeps shedding tears as I buy them up (My VR library tops 20 games now, with 6 more in my shopping cart right now)... I can't seem to find this impending doom on the VR market. My 3D TV is collecting dust, though.

I hope they do become the best devs in the world, and it inspires others to dethrone them, ad infinitum. Progress for the industry is nothing but a good thing.

@porkchop, if any of the 3 VR systems has the games, it's PSVR. It has the best exclusive lineup you'll find, plus almost all of the games that get popular on Rift/Vive. The tech is in some ways better, as well... I find the headset far more comfortable to wear and the immersion effect is better as a result of me not feeling like I have a screen strapped to my face. The higher refresh rates along with frame reprojection making the framerate 120fps at all times (vs. 90 on rift and Vive...

Sony announces a ton of really great looking NEW games, and dives deeper into details on already great looking games we've heard about. Even with all of the new games they showcase, there's still more in the wings waiting to be shown.

Microsoft teases HAlo 12,048,954, Forza Horizons 35 1/2, Crackdown vaporware, Gears of War 66, and announce they bought a game studio that never enjoyed much success in the past...

@brazz, Nintendo went with Nvidia, just sayin'. Doesn't seem to be too expensive for them, and they're notorious for keeping costs low. If Nvidia can do that for them, they can make affordable parts for other consoles as well.

There's well over 100 million current gen consoles out there in the wild. Intel and Nvidia both would be stupid to not want in on that.
