This is not like taking PS2 non HD games and upscaling them to 1080p or 720p on the PS3. What/how exactly would you justify resources taking a beautiful game like Uncharted and making it 720p to 1080p? The differences would be minor, and then with Playstation Now coming out, why would you go out a buy the game again?
Tomb Raider is a bad example because it's built with upscaling for the PC in mind as multiplat. Most of this list of games are 1st party meaning they built these g...
TLOF is technically the most "awarded" game of all time. That comes from the goty site. However HUGE astrisk to this, Ocarnia of Time came in 1998, 5 years before this site started keeping the Game of the Year award information. If going by ratings/metacritic OoT is at 99 while TLOU is at 95. Also video games were far more a niche market with less publications giving awards and reviews pre cira 2000.
Nintendo's name is synonymous with gaming, as Disney is to cartoons/theme parks. That being said no software or electronic company is invunerable to being in a decline or even irrelevant. Nintendo was the gaming company I grew up with, they educated me to become a gamer. If they were gone to pages of history, I would still game.
Yeah the PS4 PS+ is a little light right now, I guess thinking future terms. I mean since about 2011 with the PS3 and PS+ I was having to clear HDD space every Tuesday night just to make room for the influx of games, it was great! I need to see PS Now, I'm a skeptic when comes to cloud gaming, I was former OnLive subscriber and that rarely worked to up to expectations
@matt139 oh I agree, FarCry is amazing maxed out. I guess I'm just confused about on what system he's referencing these games to. If they are PC games, well then theres really refute this list casue as maxed PC games they are all very impressive. Please don't make this about PC vs console thing, they are two very different setups.
Yeah I don't why you have a PS3 or PS4 and not have a PS+ subscription. I mean you could literally just have the system and subscription and be covered for games all year round. Then again, I don't why/how people have Xbox's without Live, because without you can't do a damn thing with the system other than player single player games, No Netflix, Hulu, ESPN, or MP...
I wouldn't say they are that much better. UC2 was one of the few games this gen that made me say "wow." But I agree, this list is comprised of Xbox360/PC, I can't really tell what system(s) he's using. Personally I didn't think Metro looked all that great on the 360.
No Uncharted 2 either?
It's not good. Their current Cash flow shows about 8 billion in cash and 38billion in current assests. Their debt is at 9 billion (long-term) and 45 billion in current liabilties. It's the biggest reason their debt caused them to be rated a "junk" status bond.
I could understand it going from say PC skyrim to Xbox360 Skyrim. I mean clearly the PC has its advantages in detail, texture, and frame-rates, but it didn't make the xbox verison less fun. Bethesda screwed up the PS3 verison with almost unplayable framerates before they patched it, that's the example I was thinking of where it really affects how a game is played.
So... no one going to mention that oh by the way Sony lost 1.03 billion dollars over their financial year? Applaud the playstation division, very nicely done, but Sony as whole as a long way to go.
PS4's power is important to developers, no doubt. However, to over place the importance of power of a system really means nothing unless the talent behind it can do anything with it. I mean if power was everything PC gaming would just blow the crap out anything with ever seen on a console, but we usually only get multi-plats and indie games. The PS4 is just a box, it has and will always be up to the talent of the developers to make best use of that box.
Hasn't exactly hurt Disney/Pixar's image, so why would it hurt Nintendo's now? How would associated bad health decisions with happy meal toys from McDs? One is not mutually exclusive to the other.
If you're buying games based upon 30fps vs 60fps... there's an issue with this industry. The only time this should ever matter is if it effects gameplay. If Tomb Raider is 30 on one machine and 60 on the other but it's same damn game, then why bicker overplay the fps? The Order will be fine at 30fps if that's what the developers sets out to make it as.
I would add better AI in there. Collision detection is a good one, NBA 2k there's definitely some issues with that still. I hope they make AI more into "puzzles" instead of reactionary to my movements. If it's just the illusion that the AI is thinking would be pretty cool.
I wouldn't care if it's 2hours or not if it weren't for that $40 price tag. I mean if I walk into Gamestop or where ever see a $40 dollar 2-3hr awesome game beside a 15-20hr awesome game that's $50-60 like an Infamous or Dying Light, it makes my decision that much easier. Now if it's $20, cool I'll take a look.
They just did post a profit over the holiday season. However, it looks like their financial year ending March is not looking good due to some major restructuring charges (looking at billion $ loss). It looks like they finally got some momentum back in their TV sales too. They finally sold off their PC division, that will help them cut some major dead weight in which hopefully they allocate to either profitable divisions.
Its just a machine, it what the software developers do that make it play masterpieces.
Seriously one of the best investments I've ever made on a console. Tuesday nights are one of the best nights of the week to see what's free. Outlast and Dont Starve are awesome. I really can't wait for the PS4 side of the PS+ really gets ramped up like the PS3 side. I hope Nintendo does something like this in the future, Xbox Live I've given up on.
Halo MP is like facebook to me. It only game I play that my friends play, and for the most part the only way I get to hang out with them... damn adulthood...
So needless to say I can't freaking wait!
