Obviously the importance of 1st party titles has become stronger over the past generation and half particularly for both Sony and Microsoft as so many different 3rd party titles have gone multipat. Nintendo though since the n64 has needed strong 1st party titles and obviously sales to keep them afloat. Their titles don’t compete against the CODs, Battlefronts, Assassins creeds, etc on their consoles traditionally. Sony’s first party sales have been extremely strong since the latter half of...
The only one I’ve played on this list is Hellblade... and even though I believe it came out last year but got to play it this year, I would have voted for Night in the Woods. As games enhance further into our daily lives, it’s only nature they should touch and heated/important social topics.
I think we should note that these are the worst ps exclusives, which doesn’t mean they “bad” games. Just not as good as many of the good/great ps exclusives.
The biggest concern I have about this game is that it’s apparently been in development for 4 yrs and these latest gameplay impressions have been less than stellar. But, I’m glad they’re delaying it to work on it further. To par-phrase a wise man, a bad game is always bad but a delayed game has a chance to be really good.
I would estimate they made about half of that amount after distribution fees/retailer fees. But I can’t imagine the budget for this game was extraordinary, I’m sure it will make plenty of money given the PS4 install base.
I think Ubisoft will probably come through with a few more exclusives give the success of Rabbids-Mario game. I think the other one that may jump on board is Actvision, I’m sure they port some stuff over. They’re already porting over the Crash remake. The one I’m sure that will leave the Switch out is EA mostly due to their games running on the Frostbite engine... and the regular Xbox one barely runs that thing well.
They may do that with likes of Squarernix or Platinum... but I don’t think Nintendo has the market share or the cash to really go after something big. What they really need to happen is when they do manage to get AAA ports, they need to launch alongside the PS4/Xbox releases. Having those games launch 6-7 months after the initial release at full price is a very hard pill to swallow for any gamers pockets.
Calling the plot “terrible” is a bit extreme and definite hyperbole. Developers need reason to add in extra pieces of gameplay even if the missions seem a bit redundant or “fetchy.” I personally never felt as if the game was “padding” extra gameplay especially with the cool “Norse storytime moments.” The story itself was good if not a little bit cliche and predictable especially about 2/3rds of the way through. I thought where this game really shinned was how they developed and progressed Kr...
Japan alone will keep it going for awhile. But if they manage to keep the 3rd party support up (like somehow getting Fortnite, COD, and some Bethesda ports) along with Pokemon, Smash, and a Metroid... yeah I would say they have a good 2-3 yrs of continued success. But I do think it will need a price drop sometime early next year as the PS5 and Next Xbox approach.
@gaming_1st soooo you’re comparing something you find on sale (that’s still more expensive) to something that’s list and not out yet... neat.
Btw nice troll account. But let’s compare more apples to oranges here, seems to make since lol.
And that’s cool. I’m in no way shape or form saying this game doesn’t deserve the praise. It’s just in a series full of epic battles, enemies, and bosses... to have face one them multiple times felt... cheap. I’m really trying as hard as I can not to go into details for spoiler reasons lol. The GoW series, for me, I’ve always held in the highest regard in terms of those special meaningful boss battles, from amazing Gods, mythical beasts, and even titans. In this game I just felt those mom...
Definitely. All things considered the fact that most of us have put up the numerous ups and downs of the PSN and Xbox live since their respective beginnings with $50-60 fees... $20 is nothing.
Shhhhh... don’t let obvious facts ruin what bizarre expectations of a $20/year online service should be for those here :)
I thought the game was awesome... but the ending (and yes secret ending too) kind of was a let down along with the boss fights and puts this well below Horizon and Bloodborne in terms of best PS4 game. Easily the best GoW game, but not the best PS4 game IMO. Even with all that though definitely the best game of the year thus far.
Given that I often see the SNES classic, I now have some optimism that I’ll get my hands on one of these.
Good point.
Hmm, I would argue it’s 4k player is its best exclusive.
@madmax lol sure thing kid. Nothing like good old rant to get your day started I’m sure!
It’s $20... a year... I mean I get that it’s lacking some common “online” features, but again $20 a year.
Checks title, looks at the majority of the comments... yup N4G still hasn’t changed
