Seems like a lot of stores (and amazon) are offering a $50 credit with the purchase of a base model ps3. I would assume that we will see a 250 dollar ps3 soon.
The problem I was having was that I would die in two hits because I couldn't afford to upgrade my health beyond 150 hp, and I was in a constant battle to maintain ammo.(I haven't bought any DLC yet, but I might before going after hard-core mode)

This game is awesome. Its also way more challenging than the first on the more difficult settings. I played on zealot difficultly my first run through and was constantly faced with ammo and health issues.
Now I think I'll play through on normal just for fun, experimenting, and trophies. Then I'll take on hard core and see how good I really am.
I feel your pain. My refurb 60 gig died just a few weeks ago. Fortunately I had just put in a new hard drive 2 months ago and I still have the data backup on my external drive. Its sucks because once I get my new slim console I will have spent over 1000 dollars on the consoles by alone!

I'm surprised that there has not been more official mod packages to go with games on the ps3. The only one I can think of off hand was Unreal Tournament 3. Its also the only game I can recall having keyboard/mouse support too.
I guess developers are afraid of losing sales for their DLC packs. Still its kinda sad when the mod community could be so big for the ps3.

It would be cool if the ngp had direct access to anything on your ps3 including the disk in the tray. Seemed like remote play on the psp3000 was mostly useless as very few games supported it.
Also bear in mind that even if the ngp does not initially support remote play Sony may add in support for it later in a firmware update.

That makes sense, as an MMO noob I probably would find the game to be enjoyable. After all I really enjoyed WKC and people mostly hated that game. I'll give it a shot once I beat Dead Space 2.

I think that all of the recent lawsuits that Sony put forth against the hacking community is having a bit of a backlash. Now these guys are feeling like Geohot is their martyr and need to avenge him or something.
I'm a little confused by the media's reaction so far on this game. Reviews for it seem to be all over the place. I guess I'll have to pick up a copy and see whats what for myself.

Think about it, a hardcore gamer may stay up all night playing a new release and having fun doing what the console was made for. But the hacker waits for the next firmware to release so they can pull an all nighter to crack security. These guys are not even real gamers, they clearly don't care about the damage they are doing to the ps3.
They may go a route where they have two skus again.
Say a 32 GB unit with all the trimmings for 400, and a stripped down 16 GB unit for 300. Choice is always nice so hopefully Sony give us some options.
It would be nice to have one unit that could compete with the 3ds pricing, and still have something even better for the die-hard people like me.
Wonder if it will use the same battery as the old psp? If not then I don't mind getting a new extended charge battery like I did for my psp3000. Also 5 hours is pretty good if you can port ps3 games to it. Makes me wonder if there is going to be a slimmer version of the ps3 coming soon.

I don't think it would be too difficult to set it up so that you could play against people on the ps3 too. Wouldn't that be awesome?!
Probably a lot, I would think like 30 bucks a month. I mean think about what your cell phone bill runs with a 3g package(~70+). Fortunately I only need wifi to be happy, but the option for 3g will no doubt be nice for some.

Yeah, it looks as though the NGP is set up so that ports from the PS3 are fairly straightforward to do.
Epic said that it only took them a week to port a game they are working on with the ps3 to the ngp. They also said that it is fairly compatible with the unreal engine everyone uses.

Wasn't there already a mega-man 1-7 anniversary collection for the ps2? I think there was also a X package too.
I only bought the anniversary collection because I own all the X games already. It was pretty cool though, Capcom added in maps and variable difficultly. I beat all except #2, Dr. Willy on that one was just too much. Should see if you can find it on amazon.
Wow I didn't know that you can't rent games in Japan, that is really odd. Anyone know if its the same with movies? I would have to assume then that the used game market in Japan is stronger there than stateside.
I like renting games, it gives you a chance to play a game that may not be worth owning. Its especially useful for those unpopular games that would have a low buyback value.

Yeah the part where you're walking by the cyro-tubes and all the sudden Isaac sees screaming dead people jerking around...creepy. I think he had some serious psychological stability issues to cope with in this story.
If they did sell 20 million though in the first year can you imagine the software support it would get? Besides they could always make back the losses with software even if the hardware is under priced. Plus there is the added benefit of stealing the 3ds's market share which would gain more 3rd party support.
I do agree that 250 is too cheap for a hand held of that much power. After all think how much you paid for your phone.
