Yeah it really annoyed me when ff13 got pushed back stateside because of the X360 port. If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have sweated it though, since ff13 was pretty mediocre.
Ah that is so true, I can't imagine playing Demon's Souls without all the spirits running around in the background. The bloodstains and invasions are a big part of the game too. Its going to be sad when the servers finally shut down.
On the plus side the article indicated that Dark Souls wouldn't be using servers, which means less maintenance for From software. Hopefully they can keep up the online for a long long time.
Yes well, in my opinion Demon's Souls is the best game I've played this entire generation thus far, and it is only on the ps3.
From Software did work along side Sony for Demon's Souls so I expect that they learned the ropes on the system. Hopefully that means the ps3 version will be in tip top shape.

Actually no it would own on general principle, who would buy a PS3 when you can get a portable one for the same price? If the thing has an hdmi out with bluetooth you could use it for a console anyway.
The experience I've had with my local Hastings has been a little more positive than Neko_Mega. I've only got a few broken (read scratched disk) movies/games, just enough so that I ask to see the disk before purchase. As for the game manuals its hit or miss, just depends on if the original owner bothered to give it. They almost always have the original case though. Again, my experience at my store, may not be representative.
I don't know that they ever specifically work on building a new console until a few years before release. That said, I also believe that Sony is constantly doing research into technology that potentially could be packed into a new console. Staying on the cutting edge takes a lot of work and money.

Besides if you look around different stores you can find a good deal. I just bought a new 160 GB on amazon for 299 with no shipping and a 50 dollar amazon credit. This saved me more than 70 bucks from wal-mart's price with tax.

Besides throwing noobies into the world of Dark Souls might give a very bad impression. They could try to do a demo of the tutorial (if there even is one in this game...) but it might seem too easy and generic. If they place the demo later in the game the proper difficultly would be there, but ...

Do you guys suppose if I download this from PSN I can carry over my copy to the NGP when I get it? I like having physical media but its not going to be worth buying a physical copy if I can't carry it over to the NGP.

Just beat this game on hard core mode today, awesome experience. Really like this one more than the original, seemed like it expanded the original in every way. Guess I'll go watch Event Horizon later today as a reward.
Finally, a year filled with rpgs! I'm surprised they didn't list Dark Souls. Even more weird, they posted a link to an image gallery for it off to the side. I mean if Zelda is considered an rpg then Dark souls definitely is.
Read the preview, they made it sound fantastic. I didn't really care much for world tendency but the nexus was pretty cool. Hopefully there is a central town to gear up and relax in, not to mention npcs to flesh out the story a bit. Anyways the game seems to have the essential stuff I liked in the first.
