This is very much a breakthrough for the "video-games as art" debate. Hopefully it sways some of the critics that assume every adaptation will follow the 'Doom' or 'Resident Evil' mould.
Still curious to know more about the game.
As far as sheer presentation goes, Crysis 2 beats Killzone 3 for mine. There are moments towards the end of Crysis 2 that absolutely blew me away with their ambition. I won't be forgetting the Grand Central Station escape any time soon.
Holy sweet crap. It's hard to spot jaggies in these images without looking avidly for them. The textures are utterly phenomenal. I really want to see some post-Grand Central Station screenshots. It was like playing Blade Runner.
Hell. Yes.
Worth it for the soundtrack alone.
I picked it up on PC, but I wouldn't be disappointed to grab it on any platform. The differences are negligible at best when it's in motion (on consoles at least) and as an all-round package the engine is hugely impressive.
They lost all review credibility when Jung was fired.
My most anticipated of the year. The whole package is unbelievable on PS3.
From what I've seen of the online multiplayer, the framerate looks remarkably solid on both platforms, so hopefully the game has longevity in that aspect.
A few things need ironing out in the campaign (A.I mostly), but the second half of the game just about topples any FPS I've played this year. Kudos Crytek.
Rofl, Cliffy B wins again by virtue of the fact that N4G members manage to produce a 4 page comment thread.
I prefer the dualshock over the xbox controller slightly. If I had to make a change, it would be to make the right stick concave. It doesn't make sense to make the left stick concave though, you shouldn't have to press into it to move forward.
Honestly though, who cares? It's completely subjective. No one controller is better than another. ...
I think people need to realise that sub-HD doesn't instantaneously make a game worthless or terrible-looking.
Kudos to Crytek. I had my concerns after the demo, much like everybody else, but they've delivered in spades and the game looks exceptional on PS3.
Why are there so many people that want this game to fail? Are they afraid that it will take Killzone 3 players?
Yeah, it's a real pity that this game is great.
I doubt any of the douche bags disagreeing with you have even heard of Spinal Tap.
It's impossible to properly decipher from these two screenshots. The games lighting engine has clouds moving over the sky constantly, thereby obscuring the sun every so often.
Having played through the PC BETA, I can tell you unequivocally that the campaign is much better than Killzone 3's. Don't be so quick to judge, children.
For a moment I thought they were doing a PS2 v Xbox comparison.
I think in a number of ways, CoD4 was hugely innovative to the multiplayer market. I agree to some extent with the over-saturation of the game, but it's inevitable and we'll probably see this happening to franchises more and more in the future, especially under the eye of Activision.
CoD is directed at a specific market, as is Battlefield. One caters to the casual player that enjoys Rambo-like instant gratification. The other appeals to the dedicated gamer looking to ...
Is the first post a joke? The script is good enough? David O. Russell isn't smart?
Someone needs a wide awakening when it comes to making a film.
Uncharted works great as a game, but if you threw that script into the Hollywood arena, it would be churned out like every other National Treasure and Jerry Bruckheimer produced turd that has ever been concieved since the dawn of Indiana Jones.
Unlike every other terrible game-to-film director, ...
I'm pretty sure Yahtzee didn't ONCE mention that GG was an American developer. He's highlighting the fact that the ISA is a predominantly American force, which it is. Dutch developer or not, American's fight the British in the game.
I'm such a huge fan of the franchise that I'll be picking this up regardless of the response. To be fair though, the series really hasn't been great since Silent Hill 3. I don't think the recent games are too bad, they just lacked the nuance of the early ones.
Oh, I thought it was only in Battlefield 2? Anyway, it feels like a very long time between that and the Bad Company games. Good to see it return!
Surely you could all figure out that it was a trolling article when he did the box comparison? I laughed pretty hard at that.
The draw distance comparison is also a cracker.
Nice job.
