Lords of Shadow should go down as one of the most underrated games of this gen. It had its fair share of issues but the scope of the game was huge.
Hopefully no clock-tower levels in the sequel though, haha, that part was awful.
Bowling took years of bombardment from the world's most insanely rabid gaming fan-base. The job he did as community manager there, regardless of what you might think of the series, was gargantuan in helping Activision and Infinity Ward sell their product. He tirelessly replied and communicated to millions via twitter, taking the flak when Call of Duty was at its absolute worst despite not having directly developed the game in any way.
His outlook here is absolutely right....
People often forget that Bowling was the fall guy for EVERYTHING Call of Duty. He took the brunt of millions of rabid players every single day without people realising that he doesn't have any influence on the games actual design.
As much as you might hate the franchise or Activision, you can't rag on Bowling for doing his job, a job that is mostly, if not entirely thankless.
As for this situation, there are a multitude of reasons why he may have quit...
I saw the critic who wrote this up on the last Invisible Walls episode. He's massively condescending towards the series post-Team Silent to the point where he probably made up his mind prior to actually playing the game. As a huge fan of the series, I found Downpour to be closer to the original 3 more than any other.
People need to get over the pre-conceived notion that Silent Hill should be as good as the first 3 titles. It's just not going to happen. Downpour is sol...
Did anyone actually read this though? Have you ever in your life not enjoyed a game that everyone else enjoyed?
I LOVED Journey, absolutely loved it, but on the other hand, I couldn't stand Uncharted 3 for a mutlitude of reasons. If people think reviews such as this are deliberate attempts to bring a metacritic score down, I'd suggest looking out for better conspiracy theories. He talks about using the full spectrum of the rating scale, which is true. Most publication...
I literally can't find anything about the developer that ported this, 'Hijinx Studios'. They don't have a twitter, a customer care line or even a website. I have to berate them through Konami's people. I mean, who are they really getting to do the port job? It disappoints me greatly that it will go down as one of the sloppiest HD jobs in this generation.
The Silent Hill series is one of my absolute favourites and to have a classic title moved into the curr...
Thank you for sharing your OPINION undisputed. I'll surely play the game and form MY OWN.
Can't believe people actually want to see Bioware burn. Another example of how regressive the gaming consumer market can be. Do people actually think this game was garbage because of the ending?
Honestly, if I judged every title I played on the basis of their crap endings, I probably wouldn't like about 75% that get released every year. Okay, so the ending was terrible and downright insulting in some ways, would you tell someone not to play the game for that reason? M...
Were you born yesterday son? Shawshank Redemption, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Grave of the Fireflies, Letters from Iwo Jima, The Thin Red Line, City Lights etc.
I'm not suggesting that Heavy Rain wasn't emotional, but be reasonable.
Well said.
I'm glad Jim enjoyed this. He's obviously a die-hard fan of the series that likes to see Silent Hill done right. I'm guessing the release push-back did Vatra Games a lot of favours when it came to making it a tighter product.
Can't wait to pick it up.
I'm enjoying the game thus far, so I can't really provide an overall impression of the game just yet.
I can however comment on Jessica Chobot's voice acting, which is one of the worst cases of fanboy pandering in the history of gaming. Without needing to mention the fact that her character seems overtly pointless, her voice acting is also atrociously wooden.
Batman Forever called,
they want their nipple armor back.
Gamers are the worst offenders when it comes to pre-conceived notions. Bioware's DLC decision is shaky to say the least, but it doesn't mean they've produced a horrible product. By all accounts, it certainly isn't bad.
People will disagree with reviews before a game is even released. "This didn't deserve a 9.5, it's an 8 at best" or "Are they trolling? 7 for a game that should have easily been 8.5 or 9".
Pre-conceiv...
They look very close, although it's virtually impossible to tell simply because of how small the screens are. The jaggies on the white-board gave it away in the third image for me.
Wow, sensational review, and I'm not even talking about the score. Legitimately well written. Details the game wonderfully, whilst also providing great commentary on the games possible message.
Kudos.
The full shot more-or-less confirms it and I gotta say.. I'm impressed.
I mean, Native American? Consider the potential people. Not just weapon-wise, but story-wise. The American Revolution can make for an amazing emotional backdrop.
This just obliterated any expectations I previously had for the third game. Very much looking forward to it now.
This was probably written to make the point that too many people on N4G comment on the basis of the article title alone.
For which, they've succeeded.
The initial DS model looks outrageously dated.
I feel like climbing to the Throat of the World with him whining.
Hopefully he'll say something when we reach the summit.
"Well, this is alright innit?"
