Yeah guild wars 2 is getting really hyped up, haven't played it yet but I'm looking forward to see how it turns out. Planetside 2 is another potentially awesome game which could set a new standard for fps games if done right. The first was mind blowing but it wasn't easy to get into and lacked accessibility.
To be fair most MMOs made in the last 10 years or at least after WoW's success have been a joke. Sure there have been the odd good feature but to be honest the genre has gone from being one of the most potentially creative genres around into a generic theme park. SWTOR being a prime example.
I also think it seems more suitable for a portable system. Don't know if the screen size will effect the game but from the footage ive seen of the game, it comes across as the perfect 15 minute time killer.Not to say it isn't an indepth experience which can't be played for hours on end but it does seem like the perfect title for loading up while waiting for the bus.
Halo 4 would have been my most anticipated game of 2012 but seeing the very cod inspired direction 343i seem to be taking the game, I'm waiting for the game with cautious optimism.
For me the most anticipated would be GTA5 no doubt if it's out this year or Guild Wars 2.

You call that a solid lineup? COD dlc is nothing to shout home about and is almost a given, Forza good but for a niche crowd, kinect, kinect, kinect, new XBL features to justify why we're paying a premium price for a service everyone else gets for free and Halo. If you call that a solid lineup to please all of the xbox crowd then you're easily pleased.

Nice article, one free from bias which seems to be a rarity these days. Completely agree with everything however I'd hope they'd finish on some surprise exclusives.. maybe even a new IP. Everyone knows Halo 4 is coming out this year and while there is a lot of hype surrounding it, I think it'd be nice for Microsoft to offer a surprise or two at the end specifically aimed at pleasing the core market.
