I wonder if this is similar to how The Witcher 3 was shown prior to release. PC using a controller. Don't know for sure. Not a big deal which ever as this game looks to be fantastic.
@Rookie_Monster Now what I read was that MS would publish "ROTR on Xbox". So other platforms will be published by Square.
IMO, I think often times the download speeds are related to poor provider networks from the likes of Comcast etc. I have fantastic performance with PSN compared to a friend of mine who has Comcast. We often compare results at teh very same time and I have fine performance and he does not. In cases like that I consider it poor provider performance. Perhaps some providers have poorly architect ed networks? Maybe they QoS certain sites and give lover priority to some sites? I know this may no...
I was able to sign-up for the PC wait list without problem using my uplay credentials.
Why do we keep having to hear about an API? This strikes me as odd. Clearly MS is fighting a perception of being less powerful and it is hurting sales. But at this point let's just see the real world benefits. All this 'future so bright I gotta wear shades" talk is potentially snakeoil. If you like X1 then buy it on it's merits today not what is promised but not delivered for the future.
Can't they both be good guys? I don't recall any mention in the article that Rockstar was not good. I am enjoying the quality work that Rockstar and CDPR have released.
Managing expectations is the name of the game. Over-hype and lofty expectations can lead to disappointment. I am sure both camps are trying to walk the line of generating buzz but not set themselves up for failure with unreasonable expectations. Hopefully it'll be a good E3 all around.
@lvl_headed_gmr I think you make such a comment knowing little of the actual financials an dhow MS operates. MS does not budget their divisions in some monolithic fashion. Let's not forget that in recent past there has been professional financial analysis which recommended MS sell off the XBox hardware division. Not that MS will do that, but clearly other financial analysis seems to point that XBox division is not the cash cow you think it is but more a strategic distraction for MS. I p...
@Lukejrl As a father of 3 and a career to attend to as well I would not say I have much time either. What I meant to convey with my 'such is life' comment is that somethings are the way they are and one must just accept it for what it is. Perfection is a nice goal but unattainable.
I am not so sure about the next XBox. Too early for the public to really know their current intentions. One would like to think they won't make the same mistakes but we've seen it happen before. I think the next Xbox really depends heavily on how well financially they do with this generation and what MS feels the market will be like going forward. Clearly their reading of the tea leaves in the early stages of X1 development was wrong as they have pivoted substantially from it's re...
At issue here is that pc players feel the game could have had even better visuals if it had not been for any need for parity. So although as a pc player I am still satisfied with the game I see the point. Yes it's true the game also benefited from console development in that it substantially increased the revenue which can be used in development. High end pc's are apparently somewhat of a boutique item. Lower cost consoles although very good are not as capable as high end pc's....
Well certainly the jury is still out on whether this is a fad or not. Judging by the amount of money being invested in the technology from many different companies I think they would disagree with your assessment. I think there is huge upside potential for gaming at the very least and perhaps other markets. Early adoption is always expensive with new technology. But if the technology shows promise and early products catch on then eventually economies of scale will drive prices to be more bu...
Oddly, my GOG timer differs from these accounts. My GOG timer currently shows ~10 hours which puts me at midnight US EDT. This does not correspond to a midnight BST global release. I emailed GOG support and they confirmed the release time. So either this is a GOG difference or the other information is incorrect.
I never thought Destiny was 'done' but I sure don't play it very much at the moment. As for Bungie's Halo being the template for the modern console shooter", it may have contributed, but surely CoD was instrumental if not more so to the genre. Regardless, Destiny is okay but as time has gone by I think it is fair to say the game did no live up to many people's expectations. Will I be back to play? Sure. Just not sure when.
Yep, down to the man cave this evening. I'll need to shave days growth by the time I emerge. ;)
At issue here too is the semantics of what is a 'downgrade' in the public's eyes versus that of the corporation. Undoubtedly, the company will call such changes 'optimizations'. Which on the surface is true. But an optimization can also be a downgrade. I feel I need to see objective based comparison of visuals and a chronology of CDPR's statements regarding visuals before I feel I have an fully informed viewpoint. However, I can understand the skepticism of gamers wh...
@amiga-man. Yep that pretty much says it. No news here other than it demonstrates that MS marketing could be driving stories to counter act the widely held belief the console is less powerful. In reality I imagine MS is concentrating on many fronts on the X1 platform as is Sony. I hope they both see performance improvements. Even though I don't own an X1 I do like it that the marketplace has viable competition. It makes everyone work harder. PC and PS4 seem to offer more than enough fo...
I am not very interested in mobile gaming given the current technology. I am not sure the point of the article? More low end automobiles are sold than high end vehicles too. That doesn't mean there isn't a strong market for luxury or performance cars. If a person wants to slum it on mobile at the expense of pc or console fine by me. But I have always felt the two markets service vastly different needs. For someone on the go alot then a mobile game is great. This only proves the pie ...
I am also looking forward to the game. I will let the game speak for itself after it is playable. It's already pre-loaded n my pc via gog. I don't really care that people complain but I guess I understand that there has not been a game in recent memory where I cannot find some contrived or legitimate controversy. It's just some people like to find the fault in everything. It's how they go through life.
Game has potential but perhaps too early to know final product. However, I thought the voice acting was terrible. Also, why was the character they showed wearing headphones around his neck. That seemed strange.
