that i have a very simple set of criteria that i use when writing my reviews, with a few adjustments to the criteria based on genre.

my criteria is thus:

1) Controls: Does the game have responsive, intuitive controls? do the characters do what i intend for them to do? if they do, that's a + mark. if they don't, that's a - mark.

example of Good controls: God of War series.
example of Bad controls: Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness.

2) Gra...

there is an air of skepticism surrounding Xbox 360 "exclusives" in Japan. that quotation marks wasn't meant sarcastically, either.

so far, the majority of the biggest and best JRPG 360 exclusives have gone multi-platform with additional content.

Eternal Sonata, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean 4, even games like Ninja Gaiden 2, which isn't an RPG, was still, at one time, billed as a 360 exclusive, and ultimately released on the PS3 with additional content.

Microsoft started this this generation, and MS fanboys ate it up.

It was all well and good when it looked like this sort of crap would never happen to MS.

But now that the boomerang is on it's way back, suddenly it's "tsk tsk Sony."

There's no such thing as "stooping to their level," when business and millions of dollars are concerned.

How many reviewers recommended the 360 versions of GTAIV, Tomb Raider, Fallout 3, etc, ...

they HAD their chance to give credit where it was due, and acknowledge that HS was a great action/adventure game, and Nariko a great new addition to the roster of awesome action/adventure character stable that is Kratos, Dante, and Ryu, but NOOOOO. they had to rip the game to shreds in reviews, and now they lament that it should get a sequel.

as worthless as reviews are, the 6/10 scores they slapped on Heavenly Sword absolutely KILLED any chances of it getting a sequel, even when...

accounts for nothing unless that extra content is exclusive to the 360.

remember when Fallout 3 was praised to no end for getting "exclusive" DLC for the 360 version. many a reviewer recommended the 360 version because of that.

the PS3 version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 comes with 3 additional playable characters with challenge maps for them, online co-operative gameplay, and an enhanced camera system/graphics engine (it's using the Sigma engine, which was bui...

my favorite soundtracks are

1) Shadow of the Colossus
2) Chrono Trigger
3) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
4) Metal Gear Solid (whole series)
5) God of War ( whole series)
6) Halo (whole series)

i've never been a big fan of Halo (though i enjoyed the first one immensely), but it's music has ALWAYS been absolutely brilliant. i don't know who the composer is, but they're great.

EVERYTHING they even ATTEMPT to do gets lambasted by the press. if i was Sony, i'd have packed it up and went home just to show the ungrateful bastards a thing or two.

remember when they were criticized for calling Trophies "Entitlements" way back when?

remember when they were criticized for including Blu Ray in the PS3 from the beginning?

HDMI? 1080p games? motion controller?

no matter what Sony tries to implement this generation,...

but man, GT5 is REALLY tempting. i was blown away by Prologue, and that was barely a taste of what GT5 will encompass.

if i have some extra cash after trying to find a way to afford all these games i'll probably pick it up.

it's been a great year for the PS3, that's for certain. not EVERYTHING was shoehorned into the last 3 months of the year, and yet there is still a helluva lot of games coming out in the last 3 months of the year, even with all of the delays.

except you, Sarcasm, of course.

it's not as black and white as me "hating" Microsoft, or Halo, or Xbox.

i OWN an Xbox. i own an Xbox 360. i used to stay at work with the guys at Activision until 6 in the morning playing 16 player Halo. it was great times.

Halo 3: ODST is a rip off. PERIOD. but hey, if you want to spend $60 on a glorified expansion pack, go right ahead. i've said my piece, and i'm still $60 richer, and am spending it on a packag...

this year i've picked up:

Killzone 2
inFAMOUS
Fat Princess
Valkyria Chronicles
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Demon's Souls
White Knight Chronicles (Japanese import, but it still counts!)

coming up:

Uncharted 2
Ratchet and Clank Future: ACIT
God of War Collection
Afrika
Assassin's Creed 2
Brutal Legends
Borderlands (maybe)
Dragon Age: Origins

and i more than likely won't be...

Halo 3: ODST offers a 5 hour single player campaign, maps Halo fans have already played and paid for 2 years ago when Halo 3 came out, and visuals that are substandard for a modern day FPS. /sarcasm

it's Halo. it will forever and always do no wrong.

according to the reviews, this game is on the same level as games like Killzone 2 (and in the case of Edge and Eurogamer, BETTER than Killzone 2), Uncharted 2, inFAMOUS, MGS4, LBP, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Gears of War, etc...

i really appreciate the support.

it's heartening to know that i'm not the only person who recognizes that there is something seriously wrong in the way the gaming "media" present us with gaming news. i felt like i was taking crazy pills.

the reason why it seems like it's ALWAYS PS3 fans on the defensive, is because it ALWAYS has been Playstation fans on the defensive.

fanboys of ALL types are EXACTLY THE SAME.

there is no "worst" fanboy. PS3, 360, Wii fanboys, they all exhibit the same exact tendencies:

Unwavering loyalty to "their" brand.

Complete and utter ignorance to the virtues of any "rival" brand.

A borderline delusional view that "their" brand can do no wrong.

A delusional view that "their" brand was the forefather of all things innova...

Ninja Gaiden is punishing for completely different reasons than Demon's Souls is.

Demon's Souls is punishing because each enemy has different timing to their attacks. a few have differing HP (i've discovered that most enemies can be killed in a few swipes when you exploit their weaknesses). every enemy has a weakness than can be exploited, whether it be magic, long range attacks, or taking advantage of their size and speed.

if you get careless or overconfident in Dem...

there are so few games these days that justify a $60 price tag, and Demon's Souls packs an insane amount of game time into it's package. it's wholly unique, yet utterly familiar.

i've been playing nearly non-stop since i got it two weeks ago, and even my wife (who is NOT a hardcore gamer), picked it up and managed to get her character to level 40 (with a little help from yours truly on the boss battles. lol).

i'm getting Uncharted 2 and Ratchet Future 2 also, but i'm...

it's really all about strategy. EVERY enemy in this game has a strategy to defeating them. from the "lowly" zombie like soldiers, to the high level monstrosities you fight, each of them have a strategy, and no task is insurmountable.

take for example this one area where you are tasked with passing by a cliff face. there are giant flying manta like creatures that spew spears at you that hurt you pretty badly. not only that, but there are golden armored skeleton knights a...

but i think that if there is one game this generation so far that deserves a 10/10 score, it's Uncharted 2.

didn't IGN give GTAIV a 10/10?

i think the scoring of video games by number is a flawed, dated system, and should be scrapped.

it's part of the reason why i don't use scores in my reviews on my site. i mean, my reviews are already subjective opinion enough as it is, why add to that by slapping a rather arbitrary score at the end?

as we...

but i did get the flashing red light, signalling an overheated console.

i was past warranty by about a year, so i had to pay to get it fixed.

it cost about $150(USD), but they did get it back to me in about two weeks, maybe less.

what amazed me was how much i missed not having my PS3. i didn't realize how much i used it until it was gone.

they sent me back a new BC unit, though.

what in the criminy f*ck do sales numbers have to do with ANYTHING??

what does it matter? Uncharted 2 is a phenomenal GAME. it oozes quality in all of it's pores. when i pop it into my PS3 next month, do you think i'm going to be fretting about how many units it's going to sell in the end.

GAMING IS NOT ABOUT SALES NUMBERS.
