well I highly recommend playing the first two games if you are able. you have plenty of time,around 9 months.They are including a Witcher universe compendium(booklet that will bring you up to speed fill you in on the story,characters,events etc.)
Still, if you can, play the first two. The story is great in both games. There will be some references that will not have the same impact and meaning if you are unfamiliar with certain plot lines,characters etc etc.
