Very well said, mate.

I read it and understand it. It's not that the points made are non-issues for some gamers, but most of them really are irrelevant and hardly "issues".

This article is written from a very linear perspective that hardware is entirely responsible for the quality of a game and even the gimmicks (if any) attached to it.

Which is wrong. No creative venture is ever that binary.

Not really, but that's still a smart comment.

Games fall under entertainment whereas vehicles are considered assets. It would end up costing consumers, dealers and manufacturers a lot more money if they were to attempt to do away with used and unwanted vehicles.

With entertainment there's been a second hand market for a long time for books, films, even comics. Games are just the most expensive to create. This is a good discussion and a valid question,...

This really doesn't deserve approval. No offense to the author but many of these points are clearly just personal gripes rather than actual insights to the benefits of a new generation of hardware.

To say they will have no excuses carries quite a condescending tone and implies that many developers of this generation have been deliberately pushing out sub-par products because they are able to hide behind various excuses that the new hardware will somehow collectively rende...

I thought PS3 had overtaken Xbox 360 in total global sales, or was I misinformed? What gives?

I personally think it does matter, but to the industry more than the game itself. I love this medium and I want it to grow and mature, tackling issues like race and sex, the kind of which people respond most sensitively to, is an important part of that in my opinion.

This game is likely to be on both next gen consoles, as it's being published by Activision, a multiplatform publisher, so I don't think it could be considered "competition" to the PS4 (not that software competes directly with hardware anyway).

The concept art looks great, right up my alley, but I can't deny the similarities in armour designs between this and Halo (

This is not recognised as false advertising.

Where creative media is concerned there has to be some kind of leniency with what is shown versus what is delivered because for marketing's sake they developers have to release gameplay footage but it's still a work in progress so they can't be accused of false advertising if shortly after that footage was released they made a decision that would affect it's presence in the final product.

Game...

@Snookies12 Actually it is still copying, regardless of whether it's done better or worse, it's still copying/imitating/mimicking.

Ironically if you look at the Move next to the Wii, Sony didn't "innovate", they just imitated but used better technology than Wii's controls and somehow Wii was still more successful by a ludicrous amount.

Even by your own logic (where did you come up with that anyway?), it's still copying becau...

It was never going to release in Q2.

TL:DR - **I personally don't believe that, just as Rockstar North entered the originally announced release quarter someone decided, "Nah, we need more polish". Games releases and development are planned way ahead of time. It was a planned tactic to spike interest for an otherwise distant release. As well as a statement to all other publishers when EXACTLY Grand Theft Auto V would be launching so that they may plan their relea...

As if your collective assessment on two different articles that you've elected not to read in their entirety has anymore credibility. If ever the pot called the kettle black, eh?

Anyway, reviewers do have deadlines there, mate. I would hardly expect the average reviewer to finish multiple playthroughs of any RPG game they're tasked with reviewing and still make their deadline.

Come on.

I'm sorry, the Backwards Compatibility standard was set, maintained and is still RULED by Nintendo. Not a single other manufacturer has bested them in this way. Sony has only ever done it once with PS X to PS2. Not even the Vita is BC with UMDs, you can only download PSP titles. No one has done BC better than Nintendo. No one.

I love this game and I nerded out like a complete retard when I saw that Bizarre had included a playable version of Geometry Wars 1, 2 and Waves on each Project Gotham Racing game for Xbox 360 as an easter egg.

It is a major visual update, but it actually looks less appealing to me now in the 3D view than it did in plain orthographic 2D.

In the 2D version, environments would be textured with plants for example and all those plants would be the same image repeated. In 3D I find this looks quite bad.

Oh well, it's not as if it's going to be a bad game so I'll get it anyway. You'd have to be quite genius to screw up a traditional Pokemon game.

I'm hoping it's Square Enix or Bethesda considering they've both been investing a lot into new IPs.

But he did stress it was one of the big companies. Not that Square Enix and Bethesda are small, but EA, Activision/Blizzard and Ubisoft are bigger.

My money's on EA.

Skyrim came out 2011 and Kingdoms of Amalur came out 2012. KoA was not on the same level as Skyrim, I'll admit, but it was good at doing what it set out to do. It's an action RPG with tons of different ways to develop your character as a fighter. If you found the combat repetitive it was either not the kind of RPG you wanted or not the kind of action game you wanted.

I don't think it was the best, I just respect the effort the designers put in to create an RPG ...

I thought iOS support was still "planned for the future" according to wikipedia. :/

Anyway, the grab of Smart Glass isn't the way it integrates with games but rather the way it let's you control your Xbox with a touch screen device easily. The point is to eliminate Media Remotes, Wireless Keyboards and other such hardware accessories that add functionality your Xbox, eg, comfortably browsing the net through Internet Explorer or watching films.

If there's one type of phrasing I hate more than anything else on the planet it's the rhetorical question.

In this article, the author regards the Call of Duty franchise as a lifeless one, rehashed every year with no real effort put in while the true gems of gaming go unnoticed and unappreciated. He poses the question "Why?" Asking why gamers fork out money for the same thing year in and year out. He makes a negligble attempt at trying to answer his own qu...
