"A good gaming PC will run you atleast US$1,500. You can get get a PS3 160GB, Xbox360 elite and a Wii for that and still have money left over."

A good TV that takes full advantage of a console will run at least 800...Argue all you want about the TV being a one time buy. The same is true with a pc. Once you have your tower built the insides will last for the same amount of time as a console's life. Eventually we might have to play a game on medium but console games are u...

a fancy motion blur and global illumination is far from being considered "next level gaming." There's nothing groundbreaking about it. I think your referring to killzone 2 amirite?

I'll say it once again. Killzone 2 will not be a groundbreaking shooter and bring anything new to the table that the PC has not seen. I will admit it looks like a good shooter "for a console". I even watched the gameplay video. I saw nothing that wow'd me in fact it looks like the ...

indeed the 8800gt or hd3870 which is around two years old will still play games on max settings. I own a hd3870 and play crysis on high. Wheres this thousands of dollars coming from. I built my pc 2 years ago for 1200 and I'm still playing fallout 3 and and far cry 2 at high 1280x1024. usually with 2x AA (crysis gets no AA love however). Not only that but it's already paid for itself AND made me MORE money for upgrades with the dvd's that I've burned. Don't ask cuz I won't tell.

i just now watched a gameplay vid of kz2 and I agree it looks good for a console. I asked myself what does it bring to the table that's gonna set the bar for next gen shooters. I couldn't come up with an answer.

I won't lie it looks really good and it's up there even on pc standards. But I don't feel like I'll be missing out.

My advice would be not to put the Pu**y on a pedestal.

If your not from america, I can probably tell you why. It is indeed our american arrogance at work. It's annoying yes, but it's how we've been brought up. We grow up around statements such as "military superpower of the world." "the american dream" "dream team" so on etc..To most people and it's just not 360 fanboys based in the U.S. The U.S IS the center of the world.

I'm guilty of this myself at times I play ffxi on occasion and have quite a bit o...

When you see the US market being brought up it usually means you can't become a global leader in sales unless you have the US market. It's a given. Japanese singers, software developers, game developers, athletes in american sports. When they want to compete in the world stage. America is usually where they set their sights.

This is only not true in soccer as the american public doesn't embrace soccer as an american sport. So they've given the term football to the NFL.

reports of piracy killing pc gaming are largely false and based on NPD numbers which never account for digital downloads. I myself have not bought a boxed game in at least 5 years. I own all new titles and a lot of indie titles bought through steam. None of my friends or online teammates have bought boxed copies of their games in probably the same amount of time.

Stardock's CEO, Brad Wardell, has stated that the game has sold over 500,000 units, with 100,000 of those being digit...

Compare that with the 200k in its first month "Sins of a Solar Empire" with the same zero marketing campaign (no publisher) on a platform (PC) that sees pirating run rampant with no DRM safeguards whatsoever. I'll also throw in a "ya that's sad"

I know they are of different genre. But it's largely at a disadvantage being a pc exclusive and pirates being able to download it with no drm.

putting KZ2 on the same pedestal you guys put LBP on is gonna come back to haunt you, should it fail to deliver.

agreed I play an mmo and have just as many girls in our vent as guys. I overheard my brother talkin in vent with some game he plays and there were actually MORE girls than guys in his vent. a lot of couples enjoy mmo'ing together.

I'm a pc gamer, I don't own either a ps3 or 360. I've seen KZ2 screenshots. They honestly. I mean honestly I don't know how to put this without sounding anti sony. But seriously they don't impress me. KZ2 to me looks like any other shooter that I've played on the pc. Just another game I'd play for a month with my friends and probably go back to cs once we got tired of it.

If you think pc gamers can be drawn by kz2 because of its graphics your dead wrong. You see kz2 doesn't hold...

I sent them a link to this site in case they wanted to follow the reactions of gamers. Someone's gonna get a good chuckle when they find the "I for one won't be returning to this site" was never a visitor to begin with.

using a blog as a source without providing a source for the number crunching is hardly passable as a counter-argument.

I wrote them back with a link of this topic here at n4g telling them to check it out. As an editor it would be interesting to see the younger crowd getting fired up and taking an interest in a CNN backed article (cnn wasn't the original source, remember that). If anything an editor would probably jump on pieces like and it would lead to good times and entertainment(for me anyway) here at n4g.

"Anyone who thinks this article is valid needs a serious reality check. "
Welcome to the world of mainstream media. You think this is uncommon? This type of BS is done almost daily. I feel bad for Sony now because know matter how much facts or stats or numbers you have. The general public WILL STILL listen to the mainstream media. I've stopped watching/reading these news sources years ago. Real unbiased and no spin news will be found on the web.

Ya I'm so sure CNN was looking for web site hits because their starving for advertisement revenue. They don't need a cheesy article with the intent of sparking a "flame war" to pull in more money. I can probably guarantee you their editorial stuff have never heard of n4g or kotaku.

@ Yoma...your not serious right? NBC is owned by GE and CNN by Time Warner. These are 2 of the top 5 media conglomerates in the U.S. Microsoft isn't even close to making that list.

whoa there. Even I have seen the claims of LBP being the new mario. It was hailed the next big thing since sliced bread. But there's no way I'm gonna start digging through old articles and start looking for names for something as petty as a fanboy argument.

instead im just going to go outside and have a smoke.

Except It's not just Infinity Ward that develops CoD. They are currently alternating between them and Treyarch. They are probably fully aware any DLC they put out would probably lead to potential buyers and online gamers sticking with cod4 because as most know...It's the better of the two.

In the end it's what Activision wants. I'm sure Activision doesn't want an annual release policy seeing less sales because a cod title from a few years back is still being played more than the...
