who cares if M$ thinks its 2005 tech? is it an insult? hell I still use notepad more than word.
There's a difference between seeing articles predicting sony's doom and seeing articles predicting ps3's doom.
if you guys are looking into the comments of these articles. You'll notice that there are hardly any 360 fans posting at all.
Seriously you guys are making these kinds of articles the hot topic. Why continue to drive the popularity of these kinds of articles by commenting in them?
Indeed it would probably go a long way to drop some cash on advertising a good looking game.
Look what it did for left 4 dead. dropped 10 mil on advertising alone and it was able to compete with gow2/ ->wrath of the lich king<- /fallout 3. Even despite the source engine being considered aged. (iirc 1 month prior to l4d release, steam pre-orders were up 60% over where the orange box was at)
Try and remember the recession is probably going to get worse. There might even be more layoffs. Having been personally laid off because of this recession and seeing ignorant people rejoice that the "enemy console maker" are having layoffs. It's annoying
well damn, I'd buy one if there were a ps3 arcade bundle for around $200ish
The economy is only going to get worse before it gets better. I sure hope Sony realizes this. 2009 might be a really bad year for them sales wise if they stay with the $400 price point.
Nicholas, a well thought out comment. However that argument would have had more weight if the arcade bundle had been out longer than a few months.
Your writing as if the 360 has been on sale at the $199 price point for awhile. it's only been a couple of months dude. You weren't expecting an overnight shift of console dominance were you?
It's amazing to see the sony defense force go into full gear because of a yahoo games article....seriously take a second, and ask yourself. Who really get's their gaming news from yahoo games except for old people? I don't know anyone personally who would ever visit yahoo games.
It won't be long until the "MS owns the media" comments start rolling in.
@thenickel - that's what I meant actually, not sure if you were talking to me or not though
you forget though. There's also a type of buyer that buys in parts FULLY INTENDING to upgrade. I would buy a 360 because it's cheap one paycheck and have enough for bills/food/etc. Enjoy some games without the hard drive for a few weeks then use my next paycheck to pick up the hard drive. Why? because it's within my budget and putting money aside is not my strong point. That's how I built both of my gaming pc's. I bought them by the part.
Now if Sony offered a $199 barebones ps3...
which is exactly why I find it humorous when I see people talking ps3 sales. Sales numbers mean nothing if your not making a profit.
Agreed with nickel. No matter how you try and make up an excuse for sales. In the end all it means was that Microsoft was a step ahead of Sony. That's all. Nothing more nothing less. That's business.
This is actually quite common in the technology industry. Big corporations just got lazy and underestimated the competition. Intel underestimating AMD with k8. Nvidia underestimating ATI with the hd4k series and the fx5xxx. Microsoft letting apple grab more OS marketshare because Vi...
lol wall street journal....not credible? That brightened my day a little. And M$ owns the media amirite?
edit: if THE Wall Street Journal. Is writing pieces like this about your company then your company is doin it wrong. There are no fanboys on wall street. Only people following the money.
If these people that make a living following the money are suddenly saying ps3 is about to tank. It's best to listen and not pretend to be some sort of armchair financial analys...
It's funny because its true.
That's just as bad as trying to charge pc users for the "Games For Windows/Live" platform while everybody laughed and pointed for a couple minutes and then went back to gaming on Steam.
as far as media manipulation goes. Sony has been the one caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

"David Manning" was a fictitious film critic, created by a marketing executive working for Sony Corporation around July 2000 to give consistently good reviews for releases from Sony subsidiary Columbia Pictures.
"ony admit...
So your implying that MS has some sort of pull and can override the big 5's decisions in the end? That's a big claim and you seem to forget Microsoft has to sell windows first and foremost before the 360. In fact If you go back and read your own sources.

It's actually been a bad year for the pc. Sure there were plenty of singple player games worth picking up but pc gamers do it for the frags. Nothing out this year thats gonna take tf2, cs 1.6, css, cod4's place.
I guess there was left 4 dead I thoroughly enjoy that game when my team has some downtime in between matches.
did I just see someone RP something about an idiot award in the comment section of a video game website...
I will say no more...
