CRank: 8Score: 35810

80 is a fair score, IMO. Around 85 is the score I'd give this game (if the original was about a 95, take 5 points off for the hit in visuals, and 2.5 each off for the decreased player count and no voice chat).

However, I simply do NOT understand this:

"Even with these valuable tools, the Wii-mote/Nunchuk controls simply don't feel as good as a controller or keyboard and mouse."

The remote/nunchuck won't one-up a keyboard/mouse. But once again...

Looks good in motion (sometimes the camera seems a bit jerky, though). Pretty much seems like it's exactly what it was described as: FF crossed with LoZ.

The preview made some complaints about "waggle," but it mostly seems like IR/pointer stuff, which is not "waggle" in my book at all.

Motion Plus has been out for awhile. They have yet to make a good lightsaber game on Wii.

Make one.

"Having a Final Fantasy character chucking bits of scenery around makes this one of the more immersive games in the series; rather than feeling like you're wandering through a series of exquisite paintings, you can actually affect the locations you're visiting, using your powers to rip the tops off fire hydrants or pull newspapers from people's hands. Almost anything or anyone can be moved, although they may not be happy about it."

I really don't mind the focus gaming has taken toward FPS this gen. Last gen, a good chunk of development focus went into sandbox games. That's just the way these things go.

What bothers me is that people think one genre ought to seemingly overtake the rest of gaming, with every other gaming style incorporating aspects of stuff PC games were doing years ago.
I mean, I don't want multiplayer in my Zelda, thank you very much.
I don't want voice chat in my Metroid.

"With wii, everything is steps backward, come on guys, it's clear."

Once again, ape, that's a matter of opinion. I look at IR/pointer controls as a step FORWARD for FPS. I really do. Once I played Metroid Prime 3, there was no going back for me. Dual analog has always been a step backward, and I think that is clear.

Motion controls, especially with motion plus, are a step forward for some games (not all, but some). TW10 most notably. You want realism?...

Spoony -- A few Wii Ware games will probably show up. IGN even picked World of Goo over Brawl as their Wii game of the year before.

ooobob -- Pretty much my feelings, too. I mean, there are still great console experiences to be had on the PS3 or 360, and I don't mean to rag on those types of games. Uncharted looks fantastic, Assassin's Creed 2 looks to be an upgrade, Batman Arkham Assylum, the downloadable GTA stuff, etc. etc. etc.

But what people are using as the...

ape007 -- I don't even know where to begin.

If graphics are the only thing that make a game for you, you must hate games like Mega Man 9, which I consider more of a "core gamer's game" than a good chunk of cookie cutter FPS games. As for Nintendo's own games, Galaxy and Corruption look fantastic. I'd put them up against games on the HD consoles any day.
Art direction > raw graphical power

Realism? I guess that's restricted to graphics. When the...

ape007 -- And I can't stand constant Wii bashers, who are living in their own reality. Good God, there are five games listed so far on this IGN list, and only two of them are Nintendo games (one of which is a classic Nintendo game), yet somehow this thread is a referendum on the company.

As Sidar said, how have they "abandoned their fans" when we'll be getting three dedicated Mario platformers (one 2D, two 3D), two dedicated Metroids and two dedicated Zeldas on Wii? N...

Fanboys are trashing a list of...five games? And ragging on Nintendo when so far there are...two Nintendo titles listed? One is yes, motion control-based. The other in that list (so far) is a classic 2D platformer, exactly the type of game Nintendo is good at making.

And if "core" gamers don't appreciate No More Heroes (a damn good "mature" game), or three fantastic platformers, then oh well. Your loss.

No Metroid Prime?

mastiff -- I just don't think demos sell THAT many games, man. There's only so much the hardware manufacturer can do. I don't know where this idea came from that all marketing comes from the company that makes the console. That's rubbish. That's what publishers are for. Does anyone think Sony or Microsoft were eating the costs for Modern Warfare 2's TV blitz? What, Activision puts its name on the box and leaves it at that?

The Conduit and MadWorld both got TV advertising fr...

No mentions for Other M?

Gee, it's only the first Metroid of its kind since 1994.

Saving this one as a holiday gift to me. Busy with COD:MWR right now, but I was very tempted to get NSMB this weekend.

mint royale -- Yep. People forget how much utter crap was on the PS2.

However, it did get better overall third-party support. I don't think that's arguable.

What IS stupid are the people moaning about third-party shovelware as if it's Nintendo's fault. They're busy with their own games, folks. Why no one seems to want to hold third parties accountable for their own games...that baffles me.

Whoever is on top of the heap seems to get the most hate. Co...

I sunk 70 hours into the game and loved every second.

The temple/dungeon designs were/are unparalleled, IMO. Could it use voice acting and an orchestrated soundtrack? Sure. Do those things alone make a great game? No.

Count me as one of the people who just doesn't understand the hate LoZ:TP gets. At this point, maybe some of it is frustration with Nintendo. But show me another game that rocked as hard with the Goron Mines and Lakebed Temple back-to-back. That'...

Yeah, there's been a ton of shovelware and outright junk on Wii. And for the most part, that's on third parties (although Wii Music is...well, Wii Music).

Hopefully that changes with FF:CC, SH: Shattered Memories, MH Tri, RS2, NMH2, etc. This next bunch of releases could be the Wii's golden age (combined with Other M, SMG2, Retro's secret project and the next Zelda). It's just a shame it's taken this long.

"Waggle" is certainly a gimmick. Well done motion controls or a good IR/pointer scheme aren't. They are no more gimmicks than dual analog or shoulder buttons are. IMO, of course.

Windwaker definitely looks timeless. I think it would be unfortunate if we never see that art style on a console Zelda again, but at least we have the handheld games (PH was awesome sauce in my book).

Personally, I'm more of a TP fan. I think the game gets way more hell than it deserves. But that's the great thing about LoZ -- everyone has their own personal favorite. And every single console Zelda has been damn good.

What would really rock is if they find a midd...
