Some reviewers have even started calling out their colleagues on this very subject. Destructoid's review of the Prime Trilogy:
"About that control scheme; it's a constant puzzle to me that some people still prefer to play 3D shooters with two analog sticks. Honestly, I can't help but suspect that it's just a generational thing. I know a lot of old people who also think that Frank Sinatra was more musically talented than The Beatles, and that has everything to do with the fa...
"The depictions of violence in the game are intense, yet somewhat exaggerated: men in black suits are sliced in-half as blood and money flow from their bodies; an assassin with a boombox does not recover after his lower torso has been chopped off—after blood shoots from his empty waist like a geyser..."

Ah, we missed ya, Suda.
I'm with Savior; I just don't get how people think Twilight Princess was the same story as before. It was the deepest, longest story of any Zelda so far, and they managed to put in a sidekick that was actually endearing instead of annoying.
The wish for a GC version is just...strange. This Zelda is supposed to be the one that pushes the Wii to its absolute breaking point. We've already gotten a Wii/GC Zelda.
However, a steampunk dungeon would be interesting...
I'd definitely disagree with not including COD:MWR. The reviewers who actually took their time to play the game (and didn't rush out a review in a day like IGN) have good things to say about the game, almost without exception. The controls are great, and it has the best online of any game on Wii.
That said, I would've put the Metroid Prime Trilogy on that list somewhere. It's the best deal on Wii (or anywhere this year, really).
oobob -- Notice the big elephant in the room the author is missing by not going in-depth on? Metroid Prime 3. The Gamecube controller is certainly NOT the preferred method to play Prime games anymore. And in addition to adding in near-perfect IR/pointer controls, that game also introduced voice acting to the series and pushed the Wii harder than any other FPS has. Hardly a rehash.
IR/pointer controls also made projectile combat MUCH better in Twilight Princess, and Motion+ wi...
I think COD:MWR is definitely worthy of at least a B-grade.
That said...
What the frick is up with this review?
"What's amazing is that it really is the same game as MW2 on the 360, just in a visually scaled-down form.
Single-player is exactly the same as its 360 counterpart, but with one major difference: the controls. You'll either tolerate them or hate them, depending on your ability to keep your arm pointed at the screen for a certain leng...
Don't remake it, just make a direct sequel to it and sell it on WiiWare.
Can't wait to play this. 2010 is stacked.
Yep, it's pretty sad, oobob. They pretty much said: "We won't include Nintendo in this discussion, although the reason we shouldn't have next-gen systems is because of the controller interface Nintendo created this gen."
...huh? I mean, like Nintendo or not, that's some pretty shoddy reasoning. Actually, isn't that what Iwata or Miyamoto said about the Wii? That the reason they didn't push the graphics harder is because graphics were already so good?
If...
"we're not including the Wii in this particular debate"
So why did N4G put this on the Wii board, too?
[...waits for retraction/edit]
Perfect? Damn.
There were a couple spots in PH that got me stuck, but not to the point where I needed to go find a guide. Sounds like that might change for the new one...but I don't mind.
15 hours could be a bit iffy for me, but as long as there's a lot to do in the open world, I'll sink plenty more time in the game that way.
NSMB is certainly an upgrade over both of those games, and the Metroid Trilogy is just full of win.
But third parties really upped their efforts this year, too. Muramasa is badass. TW10 is the best game of its type. The COD4 port is a very good one. Silent Hill and Final Fantasty will be out before the end of the year. And the beginning of next year will be stacked with NMH2, RS2, Tri, etc.
It's a good time to own a Wii.
Numbers two and three on that list are linked -- fewer items overall equals a smaller chance of getting ones that are boss-specific.
I'm a bit divided on number one. Ganondorf is a part of the franchise as much as Link or Zelda. But I can't deny that Twilight Princess would have been a better game with Zant as the main antagonist.
^ truth
A good number of third-party games have been crappy rush jobs, cash ins or clumsy ports. Quality Wii titles have a habit of selling decently enough to turn a profit long-term.
But most third parties just don't put in the effort to market games -- EA can't imagine why Extraction didn't sell well without any push at all. I mean...really? It's mind boggling.
The weirdest thing is that a chunk of people think it's the hardware manufacturer's duty ...
oobob -- Okami's sales on Wii are probably also the reason Okamiden will appear on the DS.
But you're wasting your breath, man. People are headlocked into believing that unless a game does GTA-type numbers, it's a failure. And they always seem to forget how cheap Wii games are to actually make (EA puts the figure at 25%-33% as much as PS3/360 games).
COD4 on Wii is the biggest elephant in the room for review bias this gen, IMO. It's a lower-res version of COD4. A...
Heh, these "analysts" should get the Capt. Obvious award here.
You mean demand is slowing down during a recession for a console that has been out for three years and is in a AAA drought (which will be remedied in a few months)?
Get outta town!
Meanwhile, the Wii bounced back nicely last month:

88 might be a bit high, tbh, but overall it's a decent review.
Still trying to find the right balance for me in this one -- camping versus run 'n gun.
MadWorld, NSMB, PunchOut and WSR.
No Muramasa? No LKS? No TW10? Maybe even Extraction (yeah, it's a rail shooter, but it might be the best rail shooter yet made).
MadWorld is an interesting game, but a niche one.
WSR shows off Motion Plus, but TW10 shows just how good it is.
PunchOut is great, but I don't think it one-ups NSMB (which I've only played at Gamestop, but damn it was fun...definitely will buy soon).
