Yep. Don't leave us IR FPS players out in the cold (Activision, Ubisoft or anyone else).
I'm shocked - SHOCKED! - that the Nintendo ninjas didn't contain this leak. Blood will be spilt like milk over this.
I think it's great to see Renegade Kid spread out and try something a little different (reminiscent of Retro going from FP to a sidescroller as a nice change of pace). But I won't lie, I can't wait to see what they can do with the 3DS in a more Moon-ish game.
Yet another reason for me to stop holding out and buy a 3DS. Great review.
'Tis true. But not as underrated as the top 2 yet to be revealed.
;)
The problem is that motion controls are really in their infancy. Many devs didn't even bother, as they were busy trying to push the graphics envelope on the PS3 and 360. Heck, it took Nintendo until now to really nail the natural implementation of motions (Metroid Prime 3 aside). But when done right? I find motion controls to be a perfectly viable and very fun option (that, depending on the genre, can also offer more precision than button inputs).
Great article. You've really made me want to play SM 3D Land...
Great review, majico.
You're probably going to end up making me buy a 3DS. I want this...
Good stuff, and a nice summation.
[One I'd add - fps (not to be confused with FPS) = frames per second]
^
What he said. That's an insane deal (you can probably get as much selling it used if you don't like it).
If nothing else, buy it to see a crazily good game engine running on the Wii that graphically shames anything not named Mario or Zelda (or made by Retro).
"Plus there’s also Rainbow Road from Super Mario Kart so you get double Rainbow Roads!"

lol
Well played.
If the Wii's graphical horsepower was on par with the 360, it wouldn't have launched at $250, undercutting the competition and paving the way for its success.
There are glaring holes in the Wii (Nintendo certainly didn't do themselves any favors with friend codes or its arbitrary WiiWare size restrictions), but commensurate power of it was never the point, which is linked to why third parties never really embraced it.
Heckuva response to this one, Menashe! And there should be: this is an intriguing article.
I'd say there is more substantive criticism (and depth) in majico's 10/10 than you'll see in other perfect scores from other outlets. Enthusiast doesn't mean apologist.
The opening is what kinda surprised me. I've read other reviews that have talked about the plot being paper thin, but I think it works for what it is. It certainly hooked me early on (by virtue of sheer genuineness).
Fair review, IMO.
To be fair, the game got a lot of love at release. I simply don't understand how it has become some sort of black sheep in the Zelda family, all these years later.
Yup. The Metroid Prime series, like the main Metroid games, are more action/adventure (no one calls Super Metroid a third-person shooter). You're in first-person and you shoot, but it's a supplementary factor.
OTOH, COD is all about shooting, specifically the multiplayer. It's about that aspect of competition (which Metroid doesn't have).
COD certainly looks better on other consoles. But I don't think it controls better, and that's...
I agree on the maps. IW was just on a roll when they crafted those multiplayer maps, and it might not be topped at all. COD4 was just that good.
But the additional content (weapon proficiencies are a blast), and the balancing of the kill streaks (COD4's attack chopper was always a bit too much of an easy button, IMO) does make MW3 a formidable game. If Treyarch patches it up, it'll stand alone as the biggest, most comprehensive FPS on Wii.
I really like the looks of this. Awesome review.
