drop the core?? if they include a memory card with the core and drop it down to 250 this year, it would really boost sales, and make consumers looking to buy a wii twice.
the core will be the SKU that can reach the "sweet spot" faster, maybe around the time MGS4 comes out. And everyone should know, the mass market doesn't know the difference between one with/without hard drive, HDMI, etc. etc.. all they care about is, price. If the price is right...they will come. ...
yeah, if your looking to get one now, HDMI is a PLUS, not needed, a PLUS.
but the extra heatsink and 65m chips....those are needed.
and with this holiday season, there will be HD-DVD players under $200 (with 5 HD movies in mail), a price drop on the HD-DVD add on for 360.....i think it will be interesting to see what happens.
either way, i wold bet in the future some company in asia will come out with a player that can play both hddvd and bluray from one disc drive at a low price....thus there might not be no winner or loser
its funny maybe it's not looking good for HD-DVD, but I went with a friend to THREE best buys. My friend was looking for the HD-DVD player for 360 at the new lowered price with 6 free HD movies, and I was looking for 300 in HD-DVD....all THREE best buys were sold out of both.
Those best buys are in union, woodbridge, and garden state mall in NJ.
i guess if your looking to buy one now, it a plus that it comes with an HDMI port..
but I have 2 360's, one for my kid and one for me. One is hooked up 1080p component, and it looks great, and the other is hooked up to my 22 inch monitor 1080p using VGA, and it looks great. (vga used to look a little washed out but the update not too long ago fixed that. the colors are as bright and a little more crisp than component)
with the rumors already floating around that all 3 models will come with HDMI.... this just pretty much confirms it. well the premium at least

i probably getting rock band the game for $60 and use my GH2 controller.....and maybe in the future get the drums.
but for $60 for the whole package.... would like to see if the people that put the pre-order in actually end up getting this. i doubt it, but i'm hoping they do.

the ps3 seems like it has alot of potential...keyword there is potential with blu-ray and new IP's, that could turn out to be great.... but as for now, 360 has the games. EVen when they are multi-plat, they are rated higher on 360. So i've been playing some great HD games in 1080p for almost 2 years. maybe next year fall 08 i'll consider if it's worth getting a ...
i'm not taking sides, but having blu-ray is great for games....but as shown with ID's new game coming RAGE which is also an open sand box type of game like GTA it fits completely on ONE blu-ray disc...BUT it will also be releases for 360/pc on TWO dvd's.
My point...if fitting GTA is such a problem, then they can put it on TWO dvd's like ID's upcoming game, RAGE.

the one game on 360 that will definitely help move systems this year is HALO.
they already predicted three-fourths of the income from gaming this holiday season was most likely going to come form GTA, HALO, and Madden... so without GTA, what blockbuster does PS have...0

first LA noire is being made by some other developer and only published by Rockstar. It has nothing to do with the developers of GTA.. and also, who gives a rats as* about Rockstars other games, TABBLE TENNIS, BULLY, THE WARRIORS.... need I go on? GTA is the baby, the best selling franchise. FACT. to play the FULL experience of GTA4 can only be played on 360. FACT.

FACT. GTA is the biggest selling franchise in gaming history, it pretty much secured PS2's dominance and #1 spot in the last console wars.
All those other games are all new IP's or other games that can not compare to a game like GTA. There are no system sellers for PS3 this holiday season.

the time to buy a PS3 is still not now, maybe fall of 2008, maybe then.
everyone should have bought a 360 from day one, and you could have been playing HD games that are as good or better than anything that is on PS3 now. So I bought my 360 in nov 05, maybe in nov 08 i'll buy a ps3 if the games are worth it.
and yes the 360 has had its problems with the RROD, but they have the 3 year warrenty. nobody can beat that.
