well that depends... ps3 for a Blu-ray player 399 is a great deal
but i bought my 360 to play games, and for 350 to play AAA games...plus an extra 50 to have a much superior PROVEN online playing experience is a great deal.... and the sales figure speak for themselves.

a memory card to save you games
and 5 free live games...
for 279? compare that to the Wii...and you have a next gen HD gaming console that alot of parents might consider. There is a MASS MARKET of people out there that are CHEAP!! and more for CHEAPER to them always seems better. Although none of us would consider a 360 without a HDD...the CHEAP azz MASS MARKET will.....

Gears got over 30 game of the year awards.... that is a flagship console selling blockbuster game. Not VP.

well so far: Bioshock, Halo, now Orange Box...... i guess we will have to see about Crisis, Uncharted, Mario Galexy, and Mass Effect.
kinda feel bad for ps3 owners that have to wait so long for games lately, but at least they know for fact another AAA is coming like Oblivion.
and when FF13 comes out, PS3 will sell millions in Japan too.
PS3 is looking good for next year...but unless Blu-ray wins the format war....there are too many great games coming out on 360 that should keep me busy. If I buy another console it will be the Wii for the experience and the exclusives that I grew up with.
Japan eats up that crappy a** moster hunter series more than anyone else, so why put it on PS3 if its such a pain in the a** to develop for, higher costs of development and low installed base. and why put it on the 360 if its completely dead in Japan.
They put it on the Wii, the leading "next gen" console in Japan.
(although i wouldn't call the Wii next gen, but i dont care about that game anyways)

Xbox 360 blockbuster games... Halo 3, Gears of War, Bioshock and over 20+ games that sold over a million.
I think PS3 will get a HUGE jump in sales in JAPAN when FF comes out..

And yes PS3 is desperate, because you cant have a console at such a high price with no real blockbuster games to back it.
Anyone buying PS3 these days are true loyal sony fans, or are just investing towards blu-ray, because any REAL gamer will accept the fact that the AAA exclusive games are on the 360, and the bigg...

ownage being PlayStation is adding sales from PSP, PS2, and PS3 against Microsoft "one" console Xbox 360.
Same goes to Nintendo, they are adding Wii, DS, and GBA.
For a company with only one game console, its stacking up very close to Nintendo and Sony with 3 each.
2008 PS3 has amazing games coming out we all know that; LBP, MGS4, KZ2, and FF..... all looking to be HUGE sellers...
but 360 so far has Fable 2, Ninja Gaiden 2, Banjo Kazookie 2, Splinter Cell 5, Halo Wars, UT3, and the one game that will probably recieve a massive amount of hype "The Halo Project/Game" by Peter Jackson.
With the juggernaut brandname that is HALO along side the LOTR directer Peter Jackson..this one game might get more attention than a...

i guess we'll just see...i agree a $399 ps3 is a MUCH better value than a premium 360 and most educated buyers should and will choose PS3.... but come holiday season...it will be the parents that will be looking to buy video game consoles for their kids..That is the majority, the mass market....and cheaper is always better to them. So a premium with a racing game and a superhero game bundled in for 50 bucks cheaper than Ps3....hmm...i guess we'll just wait and see.

but, so far for 2008, xbox has Alan Wake, GTA4 exclusive episodes, Banjo-Kazookie 2, Fable 2, Halo Wars, Splinter Cell 5, and Ninja Gaiden 2.... and also what will probably be hyped up just as much as Halo 3...the Peter Jackson Halo Project.
At least in America and Europe that one game/project alone might catch more interest than all of PS3 line-up next year. Of course i'm just speculating, but I can only imag...

AAA games on 360 are already there... 2006 game of the year GeOW, Halo 3, and most likely 2007 game of the year Bioshock.
AAA games on PS3 "ZERO" ......but hopefully will come out...maybe not this year, but next year.....one day....
add in a mature game? nah...everyone mature enough would have bought the system and games they wanted by now.
holiday season sales are aimed mostly at kids...parents lookings to buy their kids presents. And what can be better than a cool racing game and a superhero game that has all the characters including spiderman. Thats all parents need to know.

i'm pro hd-dvd and xbox... but I think M$ should drop the core to $199 and premium to $299. Because compared to a $399 ps3, educated buyers will choose the ps3.

most of the 360 games are made with a native resolution of 720p... with a few exceptions like Halo 3, (which has two frame buffers - both of which render at 1152x640 pixels)
720p is high definition you asss. just like the majority of ps3 are made in 720p.
