if they want to hit that mass market, they need to keep the core and just include it with a memory card.

because otherwise.....its pretty stupid to get the core, without a way to save your games. It by no means has to have a hard drive like so many believe, because their are still alot of countries and consumers that dont have broadband.

hmm... i think you guys are missing the point... the biggest selling holiday season ever for video games was 04 when Madden, Halo 2, and GTA3 came out...those were by far the biggest sellers of the year.
Yes, PS3 has good games coming out, and 360 has other great games coming out.... BUT, my point is the 3 blockbusters can only be played on the 360 if your looking the best version (60fps) or complete experience (GAD) or Halo that can only be played on the 360..

again the "perfect storm" that Moore was referring to was in regard to the best selling season ever for video games which was the holiday of 04. And that year Madden, GTA, and Halo DOMINATED... as in were the best sellers, as in proven blockbusters that will likely sell more than every other game this season too.
really? why is that? one is on 360 and the other on PS3. I'd say about 2% can afford both consoles, so that wouldn't make such an impact.
if anything..... being that 360 has an installed base that is 3 times that of PS3, there could be more sales of Splinter Cell.

i think its a good move.... probably to not compete with MGS4 but it sure fills the 360 spot for stealth/adventure type game when MGS4 does come out.

this can not be good, i read the whole article and the make their point come across very clear. now if other developers come out, epic is screwed.
its a fact that $199 is the sweet spot for the mass market. that is the stategy of having the core. its the SKU that can reach the mass market years before PS3 can. In other words, the core for $250 is good, but soon it will be $199, while during that same time PS3 will probably be at best $450 - $500, it is then that MILLIONS will buy a next gen console because it will be affordable.
