Do you think gamers in their 30's are going to run around in a 3D second life chit-chatting?
In the end eveyone should be more interested in playing games instead of wasting time running around in a virtual world, but HOME is going to appeal to kids more than adults. IMO
being that the average gamer is in their mid 30's (i'm 32), achievements really dont do it for me, and I could care less about my Gamerscore, but i do admit that there are a couple of games where it gets addicting trying to colllect them all whether you are competing with yourself to get all of them or competing with a friend.
And Home sounds like a waste of time to me personally.
BUT to kids, my 10 year old kids is all about acheivements and so are his friends, so HOME...
sony has a great year ahead of it as long as resistance, metal gear, and killzone release this year. GT prolouge is really like a demo, so you guys shouldn't count it, and FF wont be making the cut this year, and as for littlebigplanet....that one is still very questionable but may be a big hit.
Xbox has great games coming out, some obvious million seller hit franchise (gears 2, NG2, Banjo3, SplinterCell, fable 2, Halo Wars) and new new IPs that look great (Alan Wake, Left for ...
i wouldn't be surprised if they didn't announce it, and focused more on ut3 for 360.
it would be a shame being Gears is my fav game on 360 so far...mostly because of the addictive multiplayer, which i still play.

far cry on pc is def one of my fav games of all time.
at the time, the graphics, huge open environmets, smart AI, and story had me hooked.
the port to original xbox was kind of a disappoinntment... so heres hoping the game on the top of my 2008 list is as great as the first... and with little comprimise to my 360. (i gave up on pc now that I got used to the controller)

i dont understand why people keep saying the ps3 outsold the 360 in 2007... when every week on this very website it was discussed how the 360 was outselling the ps3 on a week to week and month to month basis.
console shipped does not mean consoles sold

and as for ThaGeNeCySt..... none of those games are AAA, none of those are reviewed higher than 90% on metacritic.com, and none of those sold over a million yet.... so those games are NOT imcentives to buy a ps3,
unlike the AAA games that came out in 07 on the 360

Reason Sony is finally seeing some numbers is because of the price drop. Anyone can see that for the price, ps3 is a bargain now because of the recent blu-ray victory.
Pretty soon the 360 will have another price drop, most likely putting the Arcade at $199 just in time for GTA4. And as history points out the biggest jump in sales in every console comes when they hit the magic sweet mass market price of $199.
And to M$ ...
i got my xbox in 2005 and i think it would be great to come out with a new xbox late 2009.
new xbox every four years is fine by me.
and on a side note.. drop the price already!!! sonys 40gig ps3 with 6 free blu-ray movies just seems like a much much better deal compared to the 360 in terms of price. pro needs to be under 300, and the core at $199.
crysis will be a BIG test for both the 360 and ps3.
even my high end pc can't run the demo at high settings.
if ps3 can run crysis then that will be huge braggin rights...same can be said for 360. Because to date, that game has the best graphics. Period.
Far Cry was amazing on PC.... one of my favs of all time. But the port was a little disappointing, not just graphics but how the changed the storyline and gameplay a little.
I am really really looking forward to this game more than anything this year....except Gears 2, if that happens to come out.
yes we should continue to see the ps3 to outsell the 360 worldwide now that there is a 40gig ps3 at $399. A hd gaming console with 6 free blu-ray movies. Its a sweet deal and the 360 can't touch it, especially with the Blu-Ray momentum going for it.
And why M$ waits so damn long to do price cuts is beyond me, but it is coming, and hoping if they knock $80 off each console, then we should see a huge increase in sales because the core would then be at the mass market proven sweet...
Fact: 2007 M$ sold more units to customers, while Sony sold more to retailers.. BIG DIFFEREnCE. this was discussed on a week to week basis on this very website already.
FACT: Even the people at M$ didnnt really expect to win this gen when they started out, but if they drop that price soon and keep pumping out great games, they just might pull it off. I mean, last gen ps2 sold over 125 mil while Xbox sold a little over 25 mil.
