I agree two very diff games, and res2 can be compared to Halo as far as gameplay (frantic FPS) but will never sell as much as Halo because Halo had the Epic story and the Ultimate Hero. For that reason it attracted a much bigger gaming audience. You gotta admit, the kids love master chief.
Splinter Cell is the answer to MGS4, as far as stealth games go, and its probably the only game that can be compared to MGS.
And Splinter Cell series 1-3 on the Xbox has a combined metacritic average score of about the same as the MGS series 1-3 on PS2... both over 9+
if people like you turn on your PS3 to play for example, ReFOM, but go hang out in virtual apartments first with your buddies to talk "strategy" and maybe play some pool and bowling while waiting for more friends to show up and have a social virtual gathering... then i stand corrected.
but, i guess there will always be people like me, that turn on my 360 to play for example, Halo3, and goto my friends list to see which of my friends are playing Halo and jump in immedi...

it doesn't take a scientist to figure out that 360's biggest game for 2009 is again HALO.... this time its some kind of episodes by Peter Jackson and his wingnut studios. There will be MASSIVE hype for this game, just as much hype for HALO 3 last year as there will be for Gears 2 this year.
And NO GT3 was NOT ps2 best selling game, that would be GTA3 SA with 15.25 sold verses GT3 with under 15 million sold.
(and you do know that the 360 has the exclusive episode...

maybe if PS3 would have actually got GT5 and not just the prologue demo, and FF, and wouldn't have let M$ get the exclusive episodes to the BIGGEST and BEST selling game this year GTA4....along with MGS4. Then you would have had 4 huge exclusuive AAA block...

Re2, KZ2, and HAZE. Of course, I'd choose Gears 2 over all those games put together, but Gears 2 is a third person shooter. Funny how the 360 always gets labeled as the FPS's cons...
Personally, i like LIVE and how easy and quick it is to find things or start playing with friends.

do yourself a favor and stop buying hd-dvd movies, UNLESS, you know what us HD-DVD owners can hope, in a couple of years when manufactring costs go way down, maybe there will be a cheap blu-ray player that accepts hd-dvd movies too in the same disc drive. I think there already was one but too expensive.

as someone that likes to buy latest tech and stuff, after owning a HD-DVD player, i bought 2 movies, and got 8 free. Of those movies I saw 3 of them in thier "full 1080p glory". And what I realized is that collecting HD movies is an expensive hobby. And thats money that can be used towards...
i agree with you, if PS3 drops the price to $299 then wow, that would be huge.
But you do know that when the 360 drops to $199 (hopefully the arcade soon) that is the mass market proven sweet spot. History will repeat itself.... and the 360 should be reaching $199 way before PS3.

there are games that are system sellers (HALO, GEARS) and then there are games that are NOT.
GTA is most definitely a system seller.... do you not remember how many people bought ps2 just to play gta3? you do know it is the best selling franchise on PS2 and all three games released last gen are in the top FOUR best sellers for PS2.
people will be buying a next gen console to play GTA4... now they just need to be educated on which console will have the COMPLETE de...
