Competition is good for gaming but exclusives are not great for the consumer.

Imagine a world where multiplat games become a rare thing and all the really big titles are exclusives. We would end up having to buy an Xbox, PS5, PC and switch at a cost of thousands just to have access to games we want and then still need to pay for the games after that. It would be that or miss out.

PC is possibly going the same way with the likes of Epic trying to compe...

The moral of the story is never order from Game. Horrible consumer gouging company.

Good article. Wish there were more like it.

Good to see games finally beginning to scale well to high core count cpus

I read both your posts about stuttering with PS Now. So speaking as a professional network engineer I would say you have to bear in mind that when using home broadband to stream PSNow there is a difference between the connection from your home router to the Internet which is the bandwidth you are sold by your provider and the connection from your router to your gaming device (wired or wireless) which is local and has nothing to do with your ISP at all.

If your Internet is...

I wish google and amazon would launch actual consoles rather than bloody cloud services

It means gamepass..

Rockstar? Now that would be a splash.

Shouldn’t make a huge difference with any luck. Maybe a few PS players will branch out and get an Xbox or PC.

No huge impact though

We are commenting on the pc version of the game...what’s that got to do with the how good the Xbox 360 console version was back in the day?!

The problem that this game has is that they made a big marketing deal about the whole can it run crysis thing and deliberately spawned a load of media coverage of how this game tanks 3080s and 2080tis to run at 30fps etc...as if this would count in its favour.

Problem is if you make that sort of noise you need to bac...

I miss the Crytek of old when their games were a whole generation ahead of the competition and the can it run crysis meme really meant something.

This remaster tells the story of how far they have fallen as games developers.

I’d like to know whether thats because the visuals are genuinely next level of it’s just because it’s unoptimised version of a very inefficiently coded old game.

It’s great but if you already have a 2080ti the difference is not going to blow you away.

If you skipped the 2080s and are still is a 1080 for example then this will be an amazing a jump and represents terrific value.

I’m gonna wait on the 3090 myself before replacing my 2080ti.

Better console for my kids than the switch? Yeah, until we go on a long car journey...

I have a 2080ti with a 3950x and I can’t hit 144fps at 1080p in ultra on a great many games.

At 1080p the cpu bottle necks you and expect this will become the case with a 3090 if paired with current cpus even at 4k.

Honestly, if this is the most exciting they have then it’s going be a difficult launch for them I fear.

I remember people criticising Guerilla for moving on from Killzone. Then we got Horizon.

Sometimes, if things are getting stale it’s best all around to try something new.

Read your explanation of why you’re stressed. I took a year long break from AAA gaming when my first and second kids were born. Years later now the kids are older I am enjoying gaming more than ever.

I used to get my gaming fix by dipping in and out of simpler handheld games games instead. Many of those are easy to pick up and put down. No complex controls, long story arcs or long cut scenes. Worked well for me so thought I’d pass it on to you in case it helps.

I’d rather they put 100% of their resources into game development. That would go much further towards boosting their sales and reputation.

It’s possible that this is the last traditional console generation for Xbox. Wouldnt be surprised if they go for a cloud gaming sub model for the gen after this.

xbox have delivered on the hardware, no doubt about that...but its all for nothing unless they can also deliver on the games....that absolutely must be their number one focus for next gen. If they manage to deliver a steady stream of top class first party games then they gap will begin to close but only then.
