You said this.

"GPU upgrade, while noticeable, is not a next generation leap or anything like that."

It's downplay, the Pro is factually using next generation tech both from AMD and compared to the base PS5.

That's a bad take, while it's true that higher resolution means less work for the AI, it doesn't mean the results will be better when compared across two different AI solutions.

FSR2 is not going to look as good as DLSS (or presumably PSSR) even if the resolution is dramatically different which isn't even the case here.

I'll always take PSSR over FSR2...

And you're not even arguing wit...

I'm tired of going round and round with you saying the same crap no one agrees with.

Let me put it to you plainly.

Microsoft never wanted to put games on other platforms, but their dreams of having enough subscribers to pay for the upkeep of game pass failed. Then they spent 100b to buy a bunch of publishers there is zero chance they can maintain on game pass revenue. They have already had to close 4 studios and lay off around 5,000 people since they ...

1. what do you care you don't like those games.

You're right, I don't care.

2. MS owns said IP and can do as they please.

Correct, they spent 100b to be able to keep games off PlayStation.

3. So after a decade plus of Xbox has no games it's a crime for them to have a games for themselves now?

So they can pay for games and publishers but Sony can't? Se...

PlayStation sold nearly 80%, it was PlayStation that was moving the software. And PlayStation isn't putting it's games on the service day one.

"Now, you just said that MS is trying to shift the industry to subscriptions at the same time you say that MS will bring all of its first party games to get that sweet money from PS5 sales."

It's both, they can both be trying to shift the industry to a subscription that isn't profitable a...

Apparently I should have limited my statement to clearly imply AAA, but whatever I guess when you pad out the list with Mega Man 11, Meow Motors, The Blobs Fight!, Q.U.B.E. 2 and all the other indies it's a list all right...

And I wasn't even making a comparison between the two, ok, xbonex was more powerful than PS4 Pro we all know that but who cares in 2024... I haven't used a PS4 in 4 years and in two weeks I am going to be using...

Do you ever look at Steam hardware survey? Not even 10% of users have a GPU equal to or greater than PS5 Pro.

Even the base PS5 is more powerful than the majority of Steam users.

Where is my PS5 Starfield, or Hellblade 2?

PlayStation timed exclusives go to other platforms including xbox all the time, Kena, Bugsnax, Stray just to name a few. FFXVI is on Steam, and if Jez Cordon is to be believed it's coming to xbox yesterday.

Also it's cool when MS spends 100b to control two of the largest publishers and still buys timed exclusivity for games but its a huge problem when PS gets timed exclusivit...

It's using unreleased RDNA 4 RT, and PSSR is unreleased FSR 4, it is next generation for AMD.

And the GPU went from 10.3 RDNA 2 to 33.5 TF RDNA 3.

That is irrelevant, you're not seeing the render resolution, you see the output resolution. Remedy is telling you that the image quality is better through PSSR and you have improved post process. What your showing is how much better PSSR is vs FSR2 which the game originally used if it can resolve a cleaner 4k image at a lower internal resolution.

Remedy is saying the PS5 Pro version is better looking than the PS5 version and it's 60 fps.

And thi...

I stand by my limited number of full 4k games. And as for upscaling, DLSS and PSSR have showed that they can in fact provide an image that is more stable and clear with textures that look better than native.

Keep in mind that is what AI upscaling does, that's why people are using AI upscaling to improve retro games, because it can provide better looking textures.

Oh and RDR2 definitely does not look worse on the Pro, I played it on both PS4 and Pro e...

Say what you want Obscure, you find me any third party game that was exclusively on xbox that sold 3 million on console in its first week. Heck I bet you couldn't find any game that has sold 3 million on a xbox console now that game pass cannibalizes everything.

We'll see how much being multiplatform helps them sell their games, so far I don't see any evidence it's helped them. And keep in mind the most exclusives are on Switch, and multiplatform doesn'...

Not really... PS4 Pro did use checkerboarding to offer increased resolutions and Sony talked about the improved image quality on 4k TV's.. PlayStations own games tended to be 1080 upscaled to 1440p with better lighting and post process.

Native 4k was what Microsoft was pushing, but looking back you can basically count the native 4k games on xbonex on your fingers, and those games all had to have really dialed back/baked in lighting and shadows.

Whatever Lighting, Stalker is just one example Microsoft has paid to keep plenty of games off PlayStation like The Ascent, The Medium, Scorn, Warhammer Darktide ect. And the only reason Microsoft is putting those games on PlayStation is because xbox can't offer profitability on its own. It's clearly not because they want too. We'll see where things go, hopefully they will be forced to put everything on PlayStation.

But one thing is for sure, Blade is going to l...

I just want to say how wrong you are about Haptics.

I just started playing Dead Space, I just went through the intro. When they warp the controller vibrated matching exactly the frequency and pace of the sounds exactly, then as we are docking the vibration again matching the frequency of the sound but shifting left to right and in a circular feeling pattern just like the blue docking waves look like they might vibrate the ship. All while also matching the explosions and b...

So, as I said in the lead up to the Pro, the Pro would be able to play PS5 Quality mode at 60fps. We see here that not only was it able to do that, it also increased the resolution from 1440p to 4k with enhanced post processing.

Performance Mode

The Performance Mode on the PS5 Pro features significantly higher output resolution and has more visual detail compared to the base PS5. The Pro Performance mode uses approximately the same image quality (render) ...
