This console has parts from RDNA 4 which isn't even released yet, and PSSR is likely to be a big improvement over what upscaling is currently available on consoles.
And PS4 Pro was the first device to use hardware upscaling, it was 2 years before DLSS 4 years ahead of FSR. PS4 Pro was delivering nearly identical performance to xbone x that was reportedly 40% faster.

You made price commentary so I replied with what a reliable leaker had said about the price.
First off it will benefit games natively that use dynamic resolution scaling or drop framerates.
Second, No Mans Sky already leaked Pro settings that's a decade old game and it already supports it, so it's safe to say a lot of games will support it.
Third, most of Sony's developers haven't even shown their games, clearly those studios will be making games that support the Pro.

In 2023 PS5 sold over 20m consoles the most consoles they sold in a single year since PS2. And what they are selling today is on par with what the PS4 was selling at this point in the generation.
Xbox is down 42% compared to a year in which they were down 25% compared to 2022, and Xbox is down significantly from Xbone which also sold less than the 360.

The early rumors stated that it would be able to work on top of games similar to how anti-aliasing can be run at the hardware level and added to games that don't natively support it or additive.
However, recently I haven't heard much about that, but I also haven't been looking for rumors.
We'll probably know soon though.
I am not saying what I think the price will be, but to be fair it has been rumored multiple times it will be $500 and that the PS5 Slim will get a price reduction like what happened with the PS4 Pro. This generation has been different in many ways however.

If PlayStation can't get 50% of it's owners to leave PS4 how is rushing out a new console going to help them, especially when the last two generation they claimed to have the more powerful consoles and it didn't help them. Even their own user base has overwhelmingly chosen the less powerful Series S. In 2026 PS4 will still be getting more games than any xbox.

The amount of games that release digital only increases so it is always skewed towards digital.
Sony themselves have reported their own games (Spider-Man God of War ect.) which have physical releases still sell more than half physically.

PlayStation doesn't do big shows in EU and US because Microsoft is paying WAY higher than market value to get the big publishers on their stage with agreements to keep them off other stages.. Microsoft is paying as multiple times the rate what they paid back in the E3 days even accounting for increases in industry costs.
