Yeah, PC. Why would I want to run a Mac OS when I have a PC that works just fine. And it's the allegedly "broken" windows VISTA. Shouldn't my computer have electrocuted me and left me in a ditch by now?
Multiplayer is only needed when it is done well. So, every game could POTENTIALLY have multiplayer.
This really is a loaded quesetion and everyone knows it.
I have Linux on a virtual machine and on my PS3. In general, it's too much trouble. Every time I want to figure something out, it's off to a forum filled with snarkaholic sysadmins who think they're clever.
This article really seems to miss the point. Linux users brag about how little space the OS takes up or that it's free. On the other hand, Windows does a lot of the nitty gritty details for you so you don't have to "get used to" the command line. If you have a...
I don't see why people can't come to terms with Halo 3 being a good game. One of the most hyped games in history actually delivered.
Not too long ago, a batch of my friends decided to 4-player co-op the hardest difficulty of Halo 3, and during that time we converted someone who "hated" Halo. He suddenly got it. I also kept thinking I had forgotten how good the game was.
By the same token, Killzone 2 is a great game that finally clicked with me, and I...
You can't just invoke the "current economic climate" to make your point. In fact, I believe only a very small percentage of people actually understand what's going on, and even fewer want to explain it to those who don't. To clarify, that puts me in the former category and not in the later. Suffice it to say, your confidence in the system makes the system work and doubt will just prolong the depression.
Would I like to pay LESS for a game? Of course! But I also don...
My signs of a game's potential flop-itude:
* The PR company sounds prophetic or revolutionary, rather than simply promotional.
* If they imply something like "Nothing will ever be the same after the launch of Pocket Ponies: The Jeweled Pillow of Jewels".
* "Real time weapon change" - They claim something amazing that has already been done and want credit for innovating. It's usually a sign there isn't much in the game that innovativ...
Quality is quite a compelling argument. I'm getting further into Sony lately. But their arrogance is STILL very off putting. They are still over-promising and under-delivering. Lucky for them, under-delivering is still pretty damn good.
No one gives credit to a stopped clock that's right twice a day. But that's a bad analogy in this case, because there are people who actually believe that time should adjust itself to match the stopped clock.
"We as Sony fans have to manipulate our perception of reality to match what they say. Therefore, Killzone 2 matched the E3'05 trailer."
By the way, that's how religion and cults work. If {infallible entity} says something "is", followers h...
Hardware failure would have left a sour taste in my mouth had Microsoft not shelled out tons of cash to replace failed systems. I still maintain that if Microsoft hadn't the balls to stand behind their console, the game would have been over right there and I'd dump the Xbox.
But as long as MS want's to keep replacing my box, I'll let them. It's only fair that they pay for their mistakes... but I'm not going to say they should lose the generation because they still did the right...
I agree. The Xbox 360 will tank the day the next one is announced. But if the next Xbox can maintain 100% backwards compatibility and be much more reliable, it will experience an incredible knock-on effect. It really depends how long MS wants to (or has to) replace 360's.
Trolling? Hardly.
Blu-ray as a movie disk is just fine. No real gripes there beyond my own personal indifference for the improvement. Regardless of my preferences, the users' preference for Blu-ray makes it a self-evident success for those who want the improvement. Larger disk = higher resolution video.
The flaw in all this is when Blu-ray gets sold as a games format. You've clearly seen it before when I show that games don't need allegedly "uncompressed&qu...
I agree with UltimateIdiot911 in principle...
...but HD DVD did not "belong" to Microsoft the same way Sony owned Blu-ray. That's a undeniable fact. You'll just look silly trying to rub Microsoft's face in it because it's not theirs to have their face rubbed in it. Sony beat TOSHIBA, not Microsoft. Microsoft's so called pride has nothing to do with it.
In fact, I think Sony and supporters wish Microsoft had some pride so they would have something to bru...
You can hate, or you can recognize Blu-ray just NOW stumbled its way into its destiny. Not at any point before this... just now.
I had always hoped that games like GTA would evolve to have a realistic mode. You die or you get arrested above a certain wanted level, you're dead, your save file gets nuked, and you start over. It's clearly not for everyone, but there are people who are so uncompromising that they would play something like that.
That one Xbox game with the giant mech controller, Steel Battalion... if your mech was about to get destroyed, you had to hit the eject button or what I described in ...
I think the difficulty kills any chance of NG being a guilty pleasure for me.
I really can't call playing games with T&A a guilty pleasure. My guilty pleasures revolve around mechanics. Games like GTA border on guilty pleasure, but if you add superhuman stunting and grappling hook guns like Just Cause, then you get to my real guilty pleasures.
Also, I love games that make me feel like god. That's my most guilty pleasure.
Looks like someone is playing the meta-meta game.
What we need is an organic, community-driven method for controlling flamebait... and I can think of one way to do that.
Break up the approval cartels.
For example, if the same 3 people provide 75% of the approval votes, increase the publication minimum votes for that domain by a percentage of the recurring votes. Each week, decrease the number of votes required by one. This not only breaks up an individual site's cartel, but it also puts a hamper on fanboys who wil...
Settings.
Settings are NOT a compelling reason to buy a console. Please tell me this is a huge joke and you are about to link me to "evidence" that's really just a Rickroll. That would be funny, rather than just sad.
