X-Station? Plex-box? Playbox 724? There is no end to the bad names.
But with all this speculation... the PR talking heads have been awfully quiet lately...
As long as Microsoft handles the software. Like you are suggesting, let the two co's play to their strengths.
"Just look at MS and its OS."
What if government came in and declared PSN to be a monopoly and must open up to any game console that wants to use it? They aren't charging anything for it, while Microsoft is charging for XBL. If you want to call Microsoft a monopoly, recognize the same pattern of the IE case exists for PSN. The only thing missing is that XBL is still dominant.
Once PSN surpasses XBL, Microsoft could claim Sony is illegally bundling PSN wi...
If I had my way, I'd go on a holy war on N4G, eliminating anyone who though being snarky = being clever.
Even though I have an MSDN license for work and should get W7 as part of that, it would be nice to have Microsoft say "You aren't happy with Vista? Ok, I'll give a free upgrade to W7 for any Vista users."
I still don't see the issue with Vista. But of course, I have 6 gigs of RAM and a quad core. But to make sure that doesn't go to waste, generally run several virtual machines at the same time, one currently with the W7 release candidate. So, I demand quite a bit fr...
If I sit in the corner and rock back and forth chanting "FFXIII is still a PS3 exclusive", that doesn't change the fact that it... isn't. It's funny watching people deny reality to remain a fanboy.
Go draft another petition so I can make more fun of you.
@FStar:
Agreed on The Darkness. It had that power-trippy feeling I love. And because you suggest it, I'll give Folklore a shot, too. And yes, Nintendo is a boil on the ass of the game industry. The hardcores of all systems need to band together, throw aside the corporate bullshit, and give the traitorous Nintendo what's coming to them.
Please, everyone who reads this, go out to all the hardcore fanboys you meet and tell them this:
Thou shalt play for...

I would normally agree, but you always have to question a principled response and evaluate it against results. In this case, your principled devotion to competition is very well-intentioned, but it assumes inaccurate hyping doesn't affect the results.
Competition is great, but we as consumers are messing with that formula by taking the competition out of the hands of the developers. We have very little control over the small details that can make or break a...
No, it's not a Halo Killer. But why do we need "killers"?
If we had avoided calling this and that a Halo Killer, maybe those games would have been evaluated on their own merits, instead of put in a cage with the other panda and told to perform. Un-deserving games get over-hyped and deserving games get under-appreciated.
Both exist just fine without one killing the other. I'm Forging a map in Halo 3 when I'm not playing Killzone 2. I give them BOTH their...
Gabe isn't on the list because the list wasn't made by PS3 fanboys...
And Fatal1ty is the worst of them all. He single-handedly caused thousands of kids to drop out of college in favor of a "career" in pro gaming. He has ruined more life than he has gained for himself, making him the number one thing I would remove from the universe.
You can't blame Microsoft for trying. Anyone who thinks they can't break into Japan is in denial. Anything could happen.
If you are one of those people who says "I won't believe, no matter what you say", that's not a rational thought process. You could believe anything, given the right sensory inputs.
It's going to follow the classic Hype Cycle. We are about to hit the Trough of Disillusionment, but that doesn't mean it's going to say there...

And some how it's still so damn quiet! One place PS3 has a handsdown advantage over 360.
Someone needs to make skins based on these images. Imagine skinning your consoles and controllers with X-ray images. It's just stylish enough to work.
Gamescore shows how active a gamer you are while the higher level Trophies could indicate how skilled you are.
In my opinion, Gamerscore figures more into the Microsoft sales focus. You can always buy another game and farm the easy gamerscore out of it. But you can't get Platinum without sticking with one game.
Dude... if immersion is THAT important to you, why don't you buy surround sound headphones and a head mounted display. I recommend products from Tritton and Headplay. Otherwise, I don't play for "immersion". I play for the joy of the game and the intricacies of the mechanics. In other words, I play games because they are worth playing.
I can get crap like story, immersion, and art from a movie. What I can't get is interactivity.
You people are lame.
You are arguing an immaterial position on an immaterial topic! They are practically the same. The only issues I take with the two systems are when they are poorly implemented by developers.
Now, that Sony and Microsoft both make them mandatory, there is no difference... just minor changes for fanboys to mull over.
I'm anxious to see how well MAG actually works, but it's still to early to start riding the hype train. There is nothing stopping you from waiting until the games that are actually out are compelling enough for you to buy. If games like Killzone 2 do it for you, hey, it's a great time to buy! If not, continue to wait and see.
Uh.... Microsoft isn't a Japanese company...
