Umm, why? Amazon offers free release date delivery on all their games... I ordered RDR a long time ago, and it arrived at 1:30pm today, with no shipping charge. This is probably about the 10th game I've ordered from them, and it's the same process every time.
I haven't heard anything either, so you'll have to excuse me for not taking the word of some website I've never heard of before, especially when they don't post so much as a single screen to back their story.
Also, the fact that the vast majority of their staff chose the 360 version even before seeing them side-by-side says something. I'm not saying we should assume they're all biased, but it does tell you their traditional console of choice. Espec...
Wow, not for me. I bought the console to play games... console and network features are cool, but they take a back seat to the actual games.
EDIT: Despite what I said above, the fact that the PS3 has a blu-ray player did hurry along my purchase of a PS3... so I suppose it's a tad more important that I originally thought.
Yes they are. For me, I don't really care how or why it's coming for PS3 only, it's just going to be interesting to see what Rockstar can do with the PS3's hardware when they're not restrained by having to make multiplats "even".
The story Pachter gives is sound, but how can he really expect people to take him seriously? Over half of what he spouts is either wrong or extremely obvious.

I loved GTA IV, played through it twice, and bought both expansions.
The fact that I loved it so much makes me even more excited for RDR.:-)

This game has got me a lot more excited than I anticipated being. It doesn't hurt that the 3 leaked reviews thus far have been 9, 9.75 and 10. 2 of those sources (GI and OPM) are sources I trust for reviews too. :-)

This is a fairly well written article, and most of it is true. Alpha is correct when he says that exclusives are still alive and kicking, but I don't think there are near as many as there used to be.
My favorite part of this article is the last point (#10). Competition brings the best out of any company. Like them or hate them, Sony and Microsoft almost need each other to keep kicking out the best content. I'm sure some will disagree, but if Microsoft or Sony had ...
Looks like you're the one getting the disagrees buck-o. I'm just saying, there's no excuse for this. For those of us gamers that have a memory, this will be something to think about when Capcom starts hyping their next game.
Sega did a fairly poor job handling the Dreamcast post-launch, but I think the console itself was very underrated. There were some great games to be played, and despite its short life, I don't regret buying one at all.
With that being said, no way would I drop the cash on one now, especially with all these rumors floating around about Dreamcast games coming to PSN and XBL.
Capcom's inability to give us an even remotely decent port on the PS3 is enough for me to say no. Really, this console has been out for 4+ years in the States now, there is no excuse for such shoddy work.
I agree. I was thinking the other day, there are SOOO many publications out there that get questioned when it comes to game reviews and console preference, etc.... Up to this point, I have never heard a single person try and talk about how biased GI is, or that their reviews suck or anything like that.
I've been subscribing to them since around the Dreamcast launch, and with the exception of only a couple of games, I usually agree wholeheartedly with their opinions.
Funny you should mention it, I was playing GTA 4 earlier tonight trying to mop up a few multiplayer trophies, and man... multiplayer is AWFUL in that game. A complete after-thought when compared to the single-player.
On topic, RDR is day 1 for me, as is Modnation.
I actually was thinking that Activision saw this whole mess coming, and that's why they brought in a third developer to make CoD games... so with Infinity Ward not going anywhere, that means we're actually going to see 3 games cycling?

30 Frames per second is perfectly reasonable. I think I agree that 30fps with a little more graphical fidelity is a wise move, especially on the 360 since it can't handle quite as much juice as the PS3.
Now, I just hope they lock it at 30 because anything below that can get a little choppy.
I don't really think it's THAT strange of a comparison. Sure, those two games are in no way similar and have nothing to do with one another, but they have both been in production for a very long time, and they've both been delayed over and over again.
The good news is, they're both looking great, and they should both be out this year:-)

This game is looking much darker than I imagined. For a long time I was very "meh" on the game itself, but everything I've seen in the past month or so makes me think it should be a day 1 purchase.
What marketing Microsoft/Remedy has done for this game has been good. All the trailers have looked great.
Great, now all he has to do admit that he was also wrong about 1,000 times before this, and he'll be set.
In all seriousness, props to him for coming forward. Regardless of the circumstance, it's rarely easy to admit when you're wrong... or maybe he's just trying to butter Rockstar up so they'll send him a copy. Not that I blame him, it's a great game.
