If people do like this (and it seems the younger CoD crowd REALLY do), then this is the biggest "getting old" feeling I've gotten playing videogames. It's gotten to a point where I'm falling well behind what most people (particularly younger gamers) like from their game.
As an old BF fan (from BC 2 but I've loved them all aside from BF V) ...I felt disgusted.
Insurgency Sandstorm is awesome, I bought it last week after cancelling my 2042 pre-order.
However it's effectively in a different genre entirely to Battlefield. Slow, methodical tactical FPS that demands communication. It's already given me straight-up heart attack moments!
The music thing in the cars is to sell new radio stations/tracks as microtransactions.
I really thought after Battlefield V DICE would have really spent a long time looking into the mirror.
Clearly not the case. As far as their relationship with EA goes, it's clear that the tail is wagging the dog. The beta was awful. Just awful. Cancelled my pre-order after the first match.
Seeing as new titles are taking 5 years+ to push out at this stage...to be honest, R*'s games are so good I'd happily see most of their catalogue get remasters. This could be a nice gauge to prove to them that we still want a new Midnight Club, Bully etc.
Also, I would love to play GTA IV again. I f always adored it but I find that people appreciate it a lot more nowadays.
I think in a way the fact this is called 'Battlefield' and made by DICE is misleading to people because we naturally feel that it's the same guys that made BF 4 etc... it really isn't. DICE is essentialy a completely different studio making a very different game.
I'm very disappointed with what I played. An uncohesive, disjointed mess on every level.
Dude, you have a list as long as my arm proving that in the modern videogame vernacualar, "beta" = "demo" .
I will bet you my left nut this is HIGHLY representational of what the final game will look and feel like, bugs and all. Certainly as far as the core gameplay is concerned.
Sad time to be an FPS fan. Insurgency Sandstorm is brilliant though,my horror at the BF 2042 beta forced me to try it and I've been extremely impressed.
I thought it stunk-on-ice. So disappointed.
Interested to try this thing out tomorrow. I have to admit it's the first game I've been properly excited for since Red Dead 2 so fingers crossed bigtime...
I highly doubt EA would allow this, even if DICE is pleading for mercy.
Halo Infinite making me wish I got an XBX, I love multiplayer shooters but holy crap, there hasn't been a good one for AGES!
"Soulless" is a damning word for a videogame in my opinion. It says so much.
That's good to hear. But I haven't noticed any articles about PS5 having any immediate issues with the launch console, which makes me think I'll be ok with mine for a few years at least. My launch PS4 is still going strong!
On customisation, it would be great if they add a "Recruit" specialist who you can customise the face of, use realistic military gear and use any of the specialist's attributes. I want to play as a random soldier, not some hero named character.
And I hope they have an option for first person takedowns.
Yeah it's alrite. I STILL prefer the PS4 UI though and I'm just not enchanted by many a videogame anymore. Hoping the Sony showcase in a few days changes my mind.
I'm very much looking forward to BF2042 (multiplat obv) and GT7!
If it's crap then I'm seriously going into hibernation until GT7 comes out. I don't know why but it seems as I get older great games get scarcer every year
God bless, I hope it turns out amazing. Although I am dying for a new SP, the fact is Ubi would very likely f*ck it up, and we need new IPs.
GTA IV gets better as I age, a genuine piece of art. Although I think of it as a "crime epic", like I do the Godfather or the Sopranos, rather than an open world/sandbox game. It's designed for you to enjoy the story and characters with the world as an immersing backdrop, more than the gameplay.
Absolutely. I wonder if I'm just becoming a bit disillusioned with videogames but then I remember... The Battlefield 1 beta (2016) BLEW me away. Hell it still looks fantastic.
This is underwhelming on every conceivable level.
