If we had to pay to own the game, then yes. But it's f2p so while the BP and MTX are terrible, it unrelated to the core gameplay.

To be honest, that's probably because you're only looking at the PS store. Other online retailers have frequent digital deals.

Personally, I'm a physical disc guy for the same reason as Sully. I like to sell them afterward.

A threatening voicemail is nothing compared to everything else that's occurred at Activision Blizzard. From the worst predatory business practices, to a sweat shop workplace, higher-ups preying on females, and publishing bland iterative games.

Honestly... Bobby Kotick gone is 100% good for gaming and gamers. Activision has ruined the industry with their scummy business practices, both for their employees and the consumer.

It's an Xbox One game that eventually became cross-gen. This is actually common. Twilight Princess and Breath of the Wild springs to mind.

But yes, I do wish they represented next-gen more. Even FF7 Integrade's visuals feels more next-gen.

Kotick has been looting his own company for years now. There's a reason why he was considered "the most overpaid CEO in America."

He increased his salary, stocks and options while reducing salaries of his lowest paid workers. The lootboxes, the microtransactions, the rinse-and-repeat game releases. Not to mention Blizzard, which hasn't released an actual innovative game since god knows when.

Ever since the invention of microtransactions...

The issue is that it was released as F2P.

I honestly would not have mind paying full price for Campaign and MP released as one package. As long as it meant loads of good cosmetic content for free.

Taking a look at the battle pass, the free content is pretty bad, and anything remotely good is like level 30+. And even the really good paid content is on a separate store. Worst part is getting XP from simply playing matches isn't always guaranteed either....

There were leaks this weekend about this. Can't believe it happened.

My only 1st world conundrum: I've always loved familiarising with the new weapons and features in campaign before MP. Sadly, when campaign is out next month, we'll be acing through it due to the 500+ hours of MP.

Pretty much. Unfortunately, these stale franchises are too much of a household name with massive marketing budgets. The only way for them to fall is franchise fatigue but dunno when that'll settle in. Far Cry / Assassin's Creed / Watch Dogs / Tom Clancy sell way too much. Take a look at this article: https://gamerant.com/ubisof...

If Ubisoft keep shifting this many unit...

Parry has been controversial since the remake of Metroid 2. I do think the flash visual cue makes it far too easy. It also feels like they're now easier to pull off in Dread too. Personally, I think it compliments the speedy gameplay - especially as you can now do a parry dash too. Ideally, Mercury Steam should have used specific enemy attack animation as a visual cue for parrying rather than simply wait for the flash - similar to Souls-like games. But I think this was done to avoid makin...

To be honest, all serious Metroidvanias are designed with speedrunning in mind. That's part of the appeal of the genre. I'm guessing your gripe is about the endings based on completion time rather than item collection. Yeh, I agree. I've only played Dread once and I got 100% on it and was surprised that I didn't unlock all endings. That definitely wasn't a good change.

I'm not sure what you mean about not doing the old style of getting lost in explor...

There has been an titanic leap in the quality of storytelling in this genre of videogames during the decades since the days of Castlevania and Metroid. The first 3 Metroids relied heavily on environments to do the storytelling, and even back then, the story told in the environments were not anything more significant than a backdrop. But, we could argue this was due to the limitation of the hardware.

What the Metroid games did do well back then was mood and atmosphere. Metro...

Couldn't disagree more regarding driving. GTA 4's cars were far too heavy. Remember, we're playing a game, not a simulator. GTA 5 found the right balance between realism and fun.

The only thing GTA 4 had better were explosion fx and gun ballistics. And even in the latter, GTA 5's shooting gameplay was still better and less clunkier.

Oh and one more thing, GTA 4's 4-leaf clover is better than all the heists in GTA 5. But overall, missi...

It was great that Metroid Dread finally introduced a Chozo villain. A great way to finish the arc started from the first game, especially the Zero Mission remake.

In terms of where to go - well anywhere. Samus became a metroid in Fusion, and now is genuinely a metroid in Dread. I was pleasantly surprised that there were no actual Metroid enemies in Dread and this is where we can start from. Samus is now the "last" metroid and every one seeking power in the galaxy ...

I watched this as well as the discussion with McCaffrey, but she still wasn't 100% certain. After all, they only played first 4 hours.

Seems like the IGN journalist isn't so sure if the game is going to be its own thing, or go along the route of Ubiworld games.

I hope it's the former. We don't need a large open world with a list of chores to do.

You are mistaken.

The worry isn't about the inclusion of choice of pronouns, but rather that other kind of content won't make the cut due to being "problematic." As you can see, Todd Howard went about to 'signal' this particular feature despite it really being absolutely trivial. A lot of other games these days (e.g. Demon's Souls, Halo Infinite etc) just silently stopped use Male/Female when selecting a body type but "Body A/Body B"...

Preferred pronouns are so yesterday.

Gendered participles is all the rage.
