I think there is room to remake the 2 NES games.
They'll just push the new hardware too hard again. We'll gain nothing. We'll still have incomplete AND extra-shiny games running at 20fps.

I didn't really look into it at the time.
10 was the peak. Had more of the the cinematic presentation established in the PS1 entries. Voice acting and modern graphics. A great soundtrack, story, and characters. And turn-based with a party.
16 is nothing like what FF is to me. Persona proved that you can do turn-based in the 2020's and still be successful. But I guess as I approach 50, Square isn't interested in my money in these modern times.
I have not and will not pay $70 for a game. I always wait for sales.

It's too easy to get caught up in remaking successful games/shows/movies from the past. Remaking remakes. It's getting out of hand. Money spent on these things would be better spent on new and original ideas.
