Exactly. Not just Essential.

The biggest difference I've been noticing for years now is that GP is often described as THE reason it's ahead of its competition by Xbox community members, especially because of day-one releases.

While it's definitely a treat, you still don't own any of them.

So while you were falsely interpetating my comment as something Xbox/GPU is inferior in compared to PS, I ...

@darthv72

So the chances were high we would use different words.

But basically we both have said the same.

So what's the point of your comment? Except injecting an unneccessary "people truly don't understand"?

Because examing both of our comments, in fact, we both understand the service pretty well. While I just used fewer words.

The most obvious thing is still missing:

For GPU, you're now paying $215/year.

Yet after your GPU has expired, you own nothing.

Unless you re-subscribe or buy the game you've lost the license for a second time.

That's ultimate ... ultimate wringing your money.

It's still an IP they just bought.

I wish Starfield and everyone working on it all the success they can possibly have.

But for me personally, Microsoft had nothing to do with it except buying it out and making it a console exclusive.

Again, because I assume you won't accept this: I wish nothing but success for it.

But I'll always wonder how Xbox fans can be proud of Microsoft simply buying IPs out, only be...

Keep in mind:

Wether for the Xbox Gaming Division's operating profit, Xbox hardware shippings or Xbox hardware sales:

Microsoft still doesn't share any numbers publically!

We all know why of course, but I won't ever get tired pointing this out. It is a charade.

I suspect the real numbers being even worse than these estimates.

Yes! ☺️

I always just imagine it as the infamous David Letterman interview with Joaquin Phoenix on 'The Late Show'.

Us being Letterman, him/her disillusioned Phoenix.

Four financial quarters have been officially reported. Now let's wait for their final report of the complete fiscal year.

My personal conclusion:

The Xbox brand would have been nothing financially without the numbers from their acquisitions.

Which is sad, but also true.

I won't go into the fact that every of the four quarter reports had a loss in operating income due to expenses. Which are likely going to moun...

At this point in time, my personal perceiption of the Xbox brand barely couldn't get any worse.

I am resentful at times.

And I just can't forget about their first official (!) Xbox One strategy and fierce backpaddling after it.

They had totally lost me when they were planning to restrict used games. But that's just what Microsoft has always been about. Restrictions. And locking users in.

Now, with the Seri...

That's what I was asking myself, too.

Man. Imagine they would have done this.

A little sleek special built with a tiny display/LED or OLED stripe, for this special version with blinking eyes.

I would have instantly bought this. ;D Maybe even two of them. One for conservation.

On another note:

I really wonder how much money Sony made out of the customization options for the PS5. Special editions...

I figure AI as a great opportunity for game design in general.

As for monetization - AI, Activision and Microsoft/Xbox on paper alone just sound and feel like the epitome of a combo digging deeper into this.

Microsoft spent around $80bn over the last 5 years only to get a decent software catalogue and competitive revenue share out of it, finally. Sucking in all those former 3rd party and multiplatform IPs like a vacuum cleaner.

That'...

Since the World P1 update, I've been playing it again for the first time in 2 years.

The part of exploration, fauna and flora and especially the chemistry with all those minerals/elements have always just clicked with me, and it still do.

And I do really get lost in visiting stations, settlers, finding ruins, graves, crashed ships or following lost signals.

In fact I still get lost too much in it, causing me to even barely progress ...

This game is simply amazingly polished right now.

I personally would still love a less 'cartoonish' approach in the art design of a space exploration game, but I am truly amazed of the indefinite space they are able to simulate in NMS.

If you're into space exploration, all with planets, galaxies, black holes, flora & fauna, huge distances, warp jumps, research, minerals, myths, chemistry and so much else, then NMS is a true gem of its gam...

Whatever game/exclusive game:

Every studio should be given the same positive response for delaying a game to fix bugs.

So I have no ill will towards this one, too.

Subjectively speaking though, maybe in some of the near distant future we will be given more details about the 'Series S' impact on the current game development cycle.

I've got some other games in mind I suspect the S is responsible for being de...

As always:

I can't wait for the specs of the new consoles.

Wether it's NSW2, Xbox Next or PS6.

If Cerny stays the lead architect of the PS6's hardware (which is very likely I guess?), I am VERY excited for Sony's approach.

They've always done something unique noone else did.

And I expect the same for the PS6.

Edit: man, crazy. PS6 (six!) is already near! Time f...

There's a pattern I suppose:

Every 'stability update' also seemed to be the preparation for further implementations of new/requested features.

I guess the system's memory, as it is VERY limited in comparison, really needs a stable firmware framework, hence why they drop so many 'stability'.

Just a guess. But maybe quite obvious.

Huh, I've never thought about this. Good point.

I am actually excited for the official announcement. If rumors turn out to be true.

If the machine and specs feel right, I'd definitely consider buying the Pro.

Unless the RRP will be above 599, as this is my personal budget limit for a home console.

What's suprising me the most is the deeper conclusion down under, between the lines (for me personally):

Going forward from the One and into the Series generation, they still must not had a clue what to do.

At the time of release of the Series X, all they had internally prepared was nothing but the acquisitions of former 3rd party IPs (Zenimax), GP, Forza and a lackluster Halo.

Then they went on buying out ABK - another 3rd party ca...
