I agree in your assesment that the format war will be won by how many movies are sold not by how many players. The PS3 influence on the movie format war is overated. First, just because you own a PS3, it doesn't mean you will buy bluray movies, especially if you don't own an HDTV. Most gamers don't buy games systems for movies. Absolutely zero movie buffs buy built-in movie players.
Secondly, the PS3 isn't going to sell like the PS2. It's way more expensive, has less developer...
So you use a Japanese developer who's making a game solely for Sony in an interview on a website (IGN) that is paid for by Sony as proof that the PS3 has more potential? Wow, can't be much more fanboy than that. That's like using an interview from Bungie on Xbox.com to prove the 360 is better. Completely ridiculus.
I'm not going to get into a link posting pissing contest, but there are quite a lot of interviews that have completely different viewpoints. Examples include John Ca...
You bash MS for not jumping totally on the HD movie format bandwagon, but answer me this. Suppose the new format war is a few years too soon. Since the vast majority of consumers worldwide do not own HDTVs, this is a strong possibility. I have seen or heard nothing that says DVD9 is outdated for gaming this generation based on real evidence. There's a lot of smoke being blown from Sony's camp and there are those from the MS camp that point to compression techniques, proper coding, XNA platfor...
Let's see these links to all the developers having problems with space that are developing for the 360. I find it a tad odd that games would go from 5 gig to 10 gig overnight. The only developers that have made mention of space constraints are those that use an ass ton of CGI movies. Not sure how this equates to better gameplay, but I'd still like to see the links to the 360 developers' woes. Additionally, the Insomniac 20 gig claim is pathetic. Explain to me how a 20 gig game looks worse tha...
You should have learned by now that there are no 'for sures' in this industry. It was said 5 years ago that the Xbox was sure to fail. It was said in E3 05 that those PS3 specs were real and the CGI stuff was also real. It was said last year that the 360 would bomb. It was said that the PS3 would for sure launch last NOV.....no wait, for sure launch in spring.....no wait, for sure have a worldwide launch.....no wait, for sure not be much more expensive that the 360.......no wait, for sure not...
I wouldn't be so sure, paunchy. According to actual reports and not just someone's fanboy mantra, the tide in Japan seems to be switching to the Nintendo camp. We'll see, but with Nintendo's lower price point, availablity, and recent success of the DS over PSP, compared to Sony's ridiculusly high price point, lack of availability, and recent stomping by Nintendo, things could easily change. Also, if you bother to do a little research, you'd see that Japanese gamers seem to be more interested ...
This guy brings up a couple of points that are worthwhile, but he seems to be pointing fingers in the wrong direction. The console makers put out hardware. Microsoft seems to be the initiator in actual services, like online, marketplace, developers tools, etc. Sony and Nintendo also seem to be following suit, at least with online services.
With these options, it's up to developers to make the games. I think some people are expecting that 'next gen' means 'jacked into the Matrix...
This a pretty weak attempt at bashing the 360, PS3 Fan. It's old news. Everyone knows the Japanese market is very nationalistic and rarely buys foreign products, the Ipod being the one notable exception. Also, everyone knows the Japanese market is the smallest of the big three. If Microsoft is more successful in the NA and European market, then the 360 can still be more successful than the PS3.
What I would be more concerned about, if I was you PS3 Fan, is that Sony is falling out ...
The art style is a little cartoony. They need to make it a little more dark, like gritty tech. Just my opinion. It does look a lot better than it did, though, so they are making progress.
Yeah, this game looks promising.
To each his own. Resistance doesn't impress me at all. It doesn't stand up to the best shooters I've seen on PC, 360, or PS3. You can say bottom line this and bottom line that, but there are plenty of shooters coming out that look A LOT better than Resistance. Also the 360 is getting the sequel to the best selling 360 LAUNCH game, as well, so I'm not quite sure what you mean. So you fanboys don't throw a fit if I point to Gears, Halo 3, or Lost Planet, I'll pick a shooter I think looks leaps ...
This game is definately looking better than it did at E3. I guess this is to be expected, though, since more time equals more work equals better looking game.
why you Sony fanboys are all over Resistance. It doesn't look that good. I'm not saying the PS3 isn't going to have good games, but Resistance just doesn't stand out. It really doesn't make the PS3 look all that intriguing when Resistance is the game you fanboys are using as the flagship launch title. It's kind of sad, really. Just wait until some quality games come out for the PS3 and use those.
Resistance looks to be struggling to keep up with COD2, a 360 launch title of a ye...
Yeah, they look identical for either system and more or less the same as COD2 (360). However, this may not be a bad thing because I really enjoy COD2.
Yeah, a little bias is fine, but blind fanboyism is a little ridiculus. Anyway, here's a link where I got the $10-$20 number. Now, it doesn't actually say an exact number, but it doesn say PS3 games will be more than $60. You can also read this in PSM.

I'm for all systems being good. What I put my money on is my own personal decision. But you post a comment trying to bash people for supposedly posting ignorant comments about the PS3 and you back that up with even more ignorant comments about the 360. What does that do?
To say, in general, that gamers don't like the 360 because a couple of your friends don't is just plain ignorant. Explain how it keeps selling. Explain why pushing 7 million people have bought it. Explain why 3...
I just asked a question, I don't know either way, but it is odd that it's only listed as PC/360. It will probably be ported, but you never know. As for Oblivion, Bethesda flat out said they were NOT porting it to the PS3. But I guess that may not mean much, since Capcom said they weren't porting RE4 from the Cube to the PS2 and we all know what happened with that one.
I will say though that the 360 and PC will share many more games than the PS3 and PC, just due to architecture...
LIVE silver plan is free.
Secondly, just because someone owns a PS3, doesn't mean they'll buy bluray movies. In fact, most gamers don't buy game systems to watch movies. However, everyone who buys a stand alone movie player or an add-on buys movies, as this is the only purpose of these devices. PS3 sales will not win the format war. The sales of actual movies will decide the format war. If bluray movies outsell HD-DVD movies, it wins, and vice versa if HD-DVD movies outsell blu...
I never said Sony is done for, but they have clearly lost their way. They were in the best position, the dominate spot, and they are losing it. Whatever your viewpoint might be, the truth is that Microsoft has put out an extremely competitive console. You say they haven't done much to capitalize, but it is actually just the opposite. Who would have thought 2 years ago that MS would actually have a chance at dethroning Sony this go round. I'm an Xbox fan and I didn't think it was possible. Nei...
Classic is just another word for 'games that aren't selling anymore'. This is pretty common. As things stop selling, companies will lower the price and come up with a marketing gimmick like 'classic' to try to get people who overlooked the product the first time, to now give it a try. In addition, if someone is just now buying the 360, they are probably more interested in current games than games from a year ago. However, if the old games are now cheap and 'classic', these new owners may buy ...
