I'm one of the 12 people in the world that never had a Wii. I didnt think it would sell like hotcakes for years and take a commanding lead this console gen, so I guess i'm terrible at predicting how WiiU will do. I actually thought the trailer for it offered some interesting possibilites.
Seeing as there are several large and unanswered questions about it (like how much is it???), any predictions on how it will do is premature.
If the WiiU isnt coming for a year and a half, I think MS and Sony got a big break (especially MS). Unless the Wii becomes a $99 console (which it may), I dont see skyrocketing sales of a Nintendo console on the horizon for some time. This also allows MS and/or Sony to announce a console sucsessor at next years E3 and still have it ready by the holiday season 12'.
In the short term, the only real battle is going to be the handheld wars.
I watched both Sony's and Microsoft's yesterday. Neither was bad, but I didnt see any OMG moments. MS had alot of Kinect talk and Sony was pushing 3D at about the same level. Actually that new 3D monitor that allows full screen spilt screen was the coolest thing I saw yesterday. Unfortunatley im not sold on 3D. After seeing a few of the newest movies in 3D at the theater (like Pirates of the Caribbean), Im not taken away by it.
Good price.Only mark against it is the AT&T thing IMO.
I have good space in the living room for it,but the coffee table needs to be moved for two player games. This little thing will likely work for me. MS should have thrown somthing like this in the box from the start IMO.
Crowd didnt seem too happy when they announced you have to go through AT&T to play it on the network.
I agree the name is ehh..NGP sounded better.
There was some Kinect titles shown we are probably going to get. Dance Central 2 looked really good and my family will like the "true" two player mode. The Roman fighting game could be good, but I'll read a review first. If the control is as bad as those Move/Kinect fighting games last year...no thanks.Minecraft? Yes please. Some of the "hybrid" game's like Forza may be cool.
Yeah its lame and goofy (no pun intended), but my 7 year old wont be playing Gears of War III (I will).
This is not a subject to joke about MoOkS. Think of the DOZENS of gamers that would be effected by a Nintendo network shutdown.
But it was developed with the PS3 as the lead platfrom. A simple Google search shows that with several sources.Heres a quote from the dev and the link from one of them.
----"We've found that writing for the PS3 first and then porting to the 360 and PC is a much simpler and more efficient procedure," he concluded.---

Watch his Orange Box review soundslike. Specifically the part where he discusses Portal. It doesnt get more positive from him than that.
Agreed. If one estimates total sales of both consoles there, about 3% of PS3 owners bought a Move. The Kinect is closer to 10%.
This author didnt play enough Burgertime IMO. Has no "risk and reward"? Uhh..If you flatten more than one baddies with a single sandwich part, you get more points (IE making the most of each action like he/she said a power pellet does in Pac Man).
Weak argument against a good game IMO.
I dont see launching Kinect without a Kinect "controller" as a mistake. They hinted about somthing down the pipeline concerning that when it was still Natal. Good business decision IMO.
You introduce it as not requiring any controller then offer some sort of optional navigation/fire button that other games can take advantage of.
Releasing such a device at launch would have caused confusion (different "starter kits" etc) and "I already have a Wii"...
Does MS require only a "authorized" HD? My brother in law wants one for his slim but hes worried about ban hammers.
Looks neat, but theres a reason why you have people who invent stuff (IE him) and people who properly market/sell it (IE NOT him).
Doesnt seem surprising to me.For every Halo or Uncharted game, theres 20 My Little Pony or Zuu Zuu pet games put out.
Seems like its borrowing elements from games like Dead Rising,Borderlands,L4D and others. Thats fine by me though.I'm looking forward to seeing more about this game.
I do wish it had onscreen co-op myself.
Uhh..Im not calling for a ban and neither is the U.S.A.
Ubisoft didnt want to catch hell over it.Ratings system or not, you KNOW some 11 yr olds would start posting Youtube vids of them "enjoying" the game.
Guess you didnt read the part of my post where I CLEARLY stated that i have NO issues with ADULTS playing it,and dont appreciate being called stupid.
In a perfect world where ALL parents were well versed in the ratings system and acted accordingly, we w...
Seems like the authors point is a safe bet. I mean last year MS got trashed for their E3 presentation. What happened since then? Their sales went up. Nintendo basically told everyone the Wii is dead and a YEAR AND A HALF from now we got somthing better coming (I know its a estimation, but I would think holiday season next year). MS can certainly take advantage of this. Sony could too,but its pretty clear they are more interested in making everyone adopt 3D. Both of them could also easily have...
