Most people who write articles and/or comment on the forums the are critical of Nintendo are usually long time fans and/or current fans of Nintendo. They typically offer constructive criticism or just flat comments about why The Wii U is doing so poorly and/or what Nintendo needs to do (in their opinion) to become a better company to do a better job at connecting with the market place-
However, most Nintendo fans who disagree accuse them of being, "haters", "ignorant&q...
I always had the feeling the Sony guys were proud to talk about their console and what their vision is for it- RE MSFT I always had the feeling they were unsure, not proud about some/many aspects of their machine and generally afraid to be direct-
IMO MSFT listed to a few of their top execs because they did nt have much choice and everything went down hill from there until someone at MSFT figured out they had been wrong big time- they started making things better then but...
I don t always agree w you Thomas but I do agree w your comment here- I wish you would get hold of someone at Nintendo and show/tell them how to be excited about their lineup and how to get the word out to all those people considering a console purchase this holiday!!!
Although I don t think you can discount 100% the cross generational games coming out now thru year end- I do get the point that as of launch dates for PS4 and XB1, The Wii U will have more exclusive games for new buyers and more games period for new buyers. It IS an advantage that Nintendo should leverage this Holiday VIA strong marketing-but so far it does not seem like Nintendo is going to push this advantage very hard if at all-
Look at the new commercial posted today- Aimed a...
I think that is what they were trying to do with the Wii as it relates to the Wii U- but so far Nintendo has not been successful in getting the casuals that bought the Wii to step up and buy a Wii U-
IMO this commercial did not do enough to indicate this is a new and separate console - upgrade is typically thought of as improving something you already have V buying something new that is better
I wish they would just come out and say: The Wii U is a new H...
Wii U = 1% Other = 2%
wow not too good I wish Nintendo would market the darn thing
Ironically, IMO a video game journalist who was not afraid to be disliked strongly by people from all sides of the populace and even relished in it a bit would prob be pretty successful as far as traffic, hits etc.
Think wrestling- sometime the "bad guys" would be more popular (for the wrong reasons of course)
than the "good guys".
It would be much easier to find and maintain an audience that blasted you all the time than one th...
Until The Wii U starts selling a lot more units, it is going to catch flack from the general media/public etc.
The Wii U also needs to sell some serious software as well-as poorly as the console is selling- its software sales are even worse- so hopefully both will take whatever momentum we get from the holidays and carry through from there- Hopefully Nintendo will be in position to release the software we need to continue sale after holidays in a consistent enough manner to...
Iwata keeps talking about long term company value yet he has sacrificed the Wii U launch (and beyond so far) in order to improve short term financial results- ie. Iwata won t invest enough money in the wii u, its games marketing etc to ensure success- they just keep stringing us along with "what is to come" If anyone cares to remember.
Re him being a good guy because he won t lay off employees- that is a red herring- Iwata knows they should be HIRING to ramp up g...
The guy is obviously talented- did they say 2.7 million unique visitors in 1 month?
Regardless, Nintendo should hire this guy right now- The type of "new blood Nintendo" needs
The link you provided are sales for Wii games- not Wi U games? What do they have to do w the success of the Wii U s holiday lineup?
The Wii U barely has 4 million units sold - So the only way MArio 3D World gets those kind of Sales is if every single Wii U owner (including the multitude that have theirs for sale on E bay) purchase 2, 3, 4 copies each of the game
As an owner of a Wii U I care how many they sell- the worse the Wi U does the fewer 3rd party games we will get
The worse the Wii U does the less money Nintendo will invest in more games for it
The worse the Wii u does the less money Nintendo will invest in making improvements to the consoles software, to the W=E sop and to Mii Verse- So yes it does matter
One more thing- the worse the Wii U does the higher the chance Nintendo will one day ...
If you only have a Wii or Wii U, you can t play any of them
I wish Nintendo would do something to get some 3rd party games
What part of that video was factually incorrect?
It was a very well done video with many excellent points
Nintendo would do well to listen to these and many others
The guy who rcvd his Xbox early seemed to have high praise for it and def contradicted some earlier negative stories about the voice recognition- this story sounds like a win win for all involved- Good job Microsoft and customer
ITs a good positive story
So you 6 (so far) guys that clicked disagree think Nintendo is going to sell 8.5 million Wii U's between now and the end of March 2014?
The 1st 1/2 of Nintendo s fiscal year (thru September) they sold 460,000+/- Wii u s
I wish there was a way to put money on that bet
I own a Wii u by the way- bought it at launch- my son is playing Lego Marvel Superhero's on it right now. I generally like the Wii U but am disappointed in Nintendo s ef...
weekev15,
do you think they will sell 9 million for their fiscal year ending March 2014?
they won t come close - How is what Pach is saying crap- his prediction is an easy one to make and correct. Iwata has not come w in a few million of hitting any of his own Wii /u sales predictions yet
Music and videos are poor comparisons to video games tied to consoles (and/or perhaps a PC)
A person can access music and movies via many devices, mediums and companies -
Console games are often tied to 1 or 2 consoles and or a pc- and you can only play each version on its respective device-
RE movies I typically don t watch movies more than 1 time - if I do it is usually years apart- but a video game you may play on and off for days, m...
I agree-If MSFT is going to still talk about their changed policies then they at least need to take ownership of their mistakes and shortsightedness. Instead they are implying it was/is the consumers inability to understand them that was the problem... which is BS.
If they think it is such a good idea then why don t they offer both venue s in their best light and let the market decide?
digital games are not the same as digital music on many levels so that i...
Re games coming out now thru year end or even thru 1st Q, Wii U has the advantage, I m just not sure they will do a good job leveraging it- They should have already been marketing it very hard but so far nothing much-
Due to the horrible 1st year the general buzz re the Wii U is not good at all- to change that message and deliver it to the casual market they are aiming for this Holiday will take a lot of effort and resources- I do not see Nintendo putting enough of either ...
