What does the Wii U need to accomplish in order to be succeful for Nintendo? Can The Wii U be successful for Nintendo yet it not be successful for most who purchase it?
It is as if Ninty put the Wii U out there about 9 months before the console and sufficient software were ready- instead of doubling their efforts to make it right and get the Wii u going they seemed to wait to see if some other stakeholder or developer would figure out how to make the Wii U viable, how to market it, how to use the 2nd screen, how to sell it etc.
So far Nintendo has treated the Wi u and wii u owners poorly- look at how much flack Sony caught when it was an...
Considering the Wii and Wii U are our only household console I very much want its sale to increase greatly-
I think Nintendo could have and can still do much more to help sales of the console (and several key games) than they have to date
Nintendo is going to have to make a much large commitment ot he Wii u if it is to be a viable console for the length of it s generation, however long it may last-
After buying the wii U at launch for my S...
Just be cause sales for the Wii U went up does not mean they are growing as expected because they are not- not even close-
Nintendo s stated sales target for their fiscal year is 9 million Wii U s sold- they have barley sold 1 million this fiscal year (ending end of 1st Q 2014)
unless you think they will sell 7-8 million by the end of March 2014 - Wii U sales are still underperforming by a large #
No one doubts or are surprised that Wii u ...
so you think the wii u will sell between 1 million to 2 million units per month starting now in October thru this December
how many have been sold this far in October? Prob not much more than 100,000
Even with a 200% increase, sales are still VERY slow and far below Nintendo s own projections of 9 million Wii u s sold for their fiscal year ending end of March 2014 (that is 9 million for the fiscal year only not total from launch)
So before you start knocking someone who can look behind a headline you may want to slow down a bit- Saying The wii U is doing well now because sales are up is like saying a guy running a race is doing great because he moved up from 20th place...
Sales are still VERY low- No news here to dispute Patcher
Nintendo Corp s goal for this fiscal year is 9 million ( I think their fiscal year end the end of March 2014) I will bet 9 million Wii U s will not have been sold total by then much less 9 million in this fiscal year
Nintendo Corp's stated sales target for the Wii U for their fiscal year ending (April 1 2014 - I think) is 9million Wii u s sold - that is 9 million for the fiscal year not total lifetime to day- I don t think we have sold much over a million so far this fiscal year-
The fact sales are up 200% is great compared to previous but there is still a LONGGGG way to go for the wii u to be where it needs to be for both Nintendo and those of us who bought the wii U as a long te...
Rayman would have sold far less if they released as planned- all the author had to do is look at sales of all wii u games w the exception of Nintendo Land and Mario U- nothing has sold well- look at Wonderful 101 - great game -sold like sh--.
I hope Rayman, W 101 and Splinter Cell all get a sales boost over the holiday-
I am sure Ubisoft is regretting their support for the Wii-U to date- they get nothing but flack from many Nintendo fans yet they suppor...
Does it take that much time, resources and effort to put games up on the Wi U eshop- considering the huge software drought we had till recently- one would think Nintendo could have loaded up the eshop at least-
I would bet they might even sell a few consoles (not to mention software) if they had enough of their classic games available for download
Nintendo has def treated the Wii U like a "red headed step child" It is as if they are ashamed of this black s...
Smoke signals worked well in the past and they still work today- I think they are the only true "future proof" means of transferring data ...and the price is right too
IMO it is bad for gaming when great games like Rayman don't sell- I think they did the right thing waiting to release Rayman as nothing other than Mario and Nintendo Land has sold over a million units to date on the Wii U (or even close) - Matter of fact, most games on the Wii U have not sold over 500,000, many have not gone over 300,000 and many more have not hit the 100,000 mark (and I am not including the shovel ware games that should not sell anyway)
Hopefully Rayman...
Nintendo has done a terrible job marketing the wii U to date- and if anyone knows who/what was the target demo for the Wii U I would love to know- It seems Nintendo does not know either- I bought it for my Son on his 7th B-day at launch- but most of the few games aimed at kids/families were delayed by many months- He ended up playing Wii games on his Wii U far more than Wi U games- I even let him play Darksiders II and knowingly bought 2 low kids games just so he could use his b day pres...
IMO it makes sense for them to delay the games- there are lots of good/high profile games coming out recently and thru the holidays- Rayman got buried and it deserved far better sales to date- maybe it will pick up over X mas-
What concerns me is weather Watchdogs will still be released for the Wii-U - Ubi has lost their a-- on the Wii U - which sucks for both them and Wii U console owners like me
How are idiotic rumors like this able to be published on N4G or anyplace else? Weather the "ridiculous rumor of the day" is about Sony, MSFT or Nintendo- why are they given a venue- did the author make any attempt to confirm it? I am not techie but the tact it was in a plastic box would prob make any electronics overheat anyway
As long as shoddy click bait article are allowed a large public forum like N4G they will continue- There is plenty of poor journalism ...
Who is going to come out on top this holiday; Disney Infinity or Skylanders? My money is on Skylanders- There have not been too much press re Disney Infinity since its release so I think their sales have been disappointing so far-otherwise we would be hearing lots more noise- maybe they are ust working out some of the kinks - it would be nice if Infinty turns out to be a great game but for now I think I will stick w Skylanders for my kids
I wish Nintendo had put some time effort and resources in marketing The Wonderful 101, then we might have had back to back weeks/months of relatively good sales
IMO they did a good job marketing The Wind Waker and Pikmin 3 but did a real poor job re The W101- if they want the mo mo to continue they have to keep the marketing heat on
Their sales predictably went up - no one thought they would do otherwise- they will continue to go p thru the holidays at least- having said that- Wii U sales are still very low and the Wii U is still not selling on a pace to reach close to 9 million for Nintendo s fiscal year- so the Wii U is still a sinking ship- the question is- will the upcoming sales be great enough to reverse this trend
As a Wii U owner I would much rather have the option to buy a game even if parts of it are not included than have no option at all- which is usually the case when you only own a Wii and Wii U
Most of the time the parts of the game that are not included are not included in Nintendo games either-
The fact dlc won t be included is ok as I rarely buy dlc for any game- if online multi player is not included- ok I don do that either- maybe ther ill be a 3rd part...
I agree w You re releasing ALOT more of their library on the Wii U E shop
(don t know enough about Pokémon other than it sells a ton- and MMO s to say either way but probably great ideas as well)
Does anyone know how much time and resources it takes to get their past generations games on the E shop? Anyone have an idea why they are releasing these games so slowly? If they could release them all then have sales on the games they want to highlight - they could k...
