they did release a new handheld, the NEW 3DS
They would not have mentioned NX by name when they announced the mobile gaming deal w DeNA, and they DEF would not have flat out mentioned NX by name at e3 and in interviews during e3 if they were not going to release by 2016- Their focus is CLEARLY on NX now and there is no way they would be talking NX and openly doing a "post mortem" of the Wii U if they were had not started moving assests to the next system
Well they should have invested a great deal more of it in the Wii u and games for the Wii u- but they did not so they have a failed console they are already writing off-
what about Fatal Frame and Devils 3rd- Why are they not on there?
as far as Wii U owners are concerned nearly all of the PS4 and XB1 games ARE EXCLUSIVES because you can t get them on the Wii U- What do I care if they can be bought on both XB1 and PS4 if I only own a Wii U-
Nearly ALL good 3rd party games this gen are exclusively not on a Nintendo conbsole
And I bet a lot of PS4 and XB1 owners will be really upset they are missing out on Amiibo festival, Animal Crossing Happy Home and Metroid Galatic shooter
The big games are being prepared for the NX - (at least the ones being worked on now unlike Metroid which is not being developed now)
I ll bet the Wii u will get Zelda U/NX about 1 month after it is released on the NX

Now they even blew the kids demographic by being the only console that does not have Minecraft- By far more young kids today have more interest in Minecraft than Mario- Nearly every darn console, smartphone, e reader etc has Minecraft But Nintendo could not get a deal done w them- that says alot
Nintendo never says "we will no longer support xxx console" - Shortly before they dropped support for the Wii they actually said the opposite. They will just quit and not talk about it at all.
They also have a history of saying "x console will not be replaced by Y console" then of course that is exactly what happens
It almost does not matter when the NX comes out- Nintendo is not putting any "new" money in the Wii U going forwar...

Vita has sold aprox 700-800k more units lifetime than Wii U
Sony did their informal sendoff for the Vita last year- yet IT IS STILL outselling the Wii U
if one is a blindly loyal Nintendo fan, then of course it is not sleazy- it is heavenly - To the rest of us, yes it is sleazy, short term thinking business practice. They publicly apologize for the shortages then up the price and or use them to move games that are not selling well
but most or all the games you mentioned for the Wii U were funded all or in part by Nintendo- so they were ore 2nd party- look at Nintendo s most recent annual report were they list 3rd party partnerships and nearly all of them are Indy dev s
I agree and feel the same- I bought a Wii U at launch (1st and last launch console purchase) based partly on their promise of more 3rd party games, better relationships etc- But when it was time for Nintendo to "put its money were its mouth was" they walked away for the Wii U, 3rd parties and its early purchasers-
They will have to prove themselves 1st next time as it seems (per Wii U sales) that the buying pubic has learned

This article makes zero sense. Assuming most Ninty fans own a Wii U- then this e3 is exactly what Wii U owners did not need. It is confirmation that long awaited games will not show up on the Wii U and that the Wii u's days are numbered. After 2.5 years of many droughts they are already winding it up - so how is that good? If you don t have a wii u but may be interested in the NX then ok maybe but generally a failed console t not good for anyone.
