Maybe you should take your own advise -
1st we are talking home consoles here but .... The 3DS had a horrible launch year and Iwata said they should have never have launched outside the holidays-
Nintendo launched anothr console outside the holidays and Yamamuchi (Iwata s predecessor) said the same thing- WE SHOULD NEVER LAUNCH OUTSIDE THE HOLIDAYS- Even Kimamashi did not disagree with Yamamuchi and Iwata when asked about it at the recent investors event
So both ...
Nintendo has not treated Wii U owners well at all - it s bad business all the way around- they have delayed the Zelda game to have it launch at the same time as the NX version- they could have released the wii u version by now - but after the latest investor briefing it is clear Nintendo has officially distanced itself from the Wii U even though it has been obvious they were doing so since pre e 3 last year- i will never buy another Nintendo console at or anywhere close to launch if i buy ...
no, no they have not
Don t make it too simple Nintendo - it seems like it is anything but straightforward- and it does not include physical purchases either- and the coins expire quickly- at least some of them do-
considering Nintendo and Sony leased more floor space at e3 than anyone else- they must think it is pretty importat still- e3 space has to be committed long before now- so it wold seem they had other plans for all that space but something changes- like the delay of NX
both Yamamuchi (sp) and Iwata said never again re non holiday launches after their rare non holiday launches- there is a reason they said never again- it is not the best time to launch a console- by far- They are not choosing to launch in March because it is better- they were not ready for the holiday and felt they had to push it back-
They also rented the most space of any e3 exhibitor this year tied w Sony- those kind of commitments have to be made in advance- Nintendo kno...
Its bad business- The whole reason the Wii u performed so badly and cost them money is due to their lack of support day 1- bad business (AKA the Nintendo way) is selling a console to 12 million of your most lyal customers and not makng it right or at least making a reasonable effort- Nintendo was in no danger of going BK over the term of the Wi U- had they spent more time, energy resources etc on the wii u, they could have both made money and grown their market share- instead they did th...
i honestly think it was to some extent- they never really believed in the Wii u unfortunately and it was pretty clear not too long after launch if not earlier
Nintendo s annual revenue has dropped every year since 2008- you would have to go back to 2003 to see annual revenue as low as their latest fiscal year- They are paying out in dividends more than they are bringing in via their earnings (when they have earnings) - this has all happened over a time span in which the industry has grown ALOT-
Nintendo is a shell of its former self- No objective person can deny this- it is all in black ad white per their own reality- just go do som...
EDMIX- YEs- e3 is still THE BIGGEST stage for the games industry by far even though it may be losing a little of its luster- there is stil no other venue to get the attention, PR, coverage etc Instead they will have 1 playable game that won t be available to purchase for at least 10 more months-
No I don t think they "planned" to do any of this- something happened that forced them to delay- may be the games like they said or it could even be issues w the console - ...
agreed- NO retailer plans to miss the holiday sales season- It s not like they said- "lets go with March instead of November" because March is a better time to release our new console- I can t believe anyone over the age of 10 could even pretend to think that- If they had not all but killed the Wii U already, they could have planned a few more games for it and held off till holiday 2017- but they have pretty well abandoned it -
Even so, i still am not sold they wi...
except Nintendo did not plan this_ they were not ready to go forward in the fall 2016 so they HAD to delay- it s not a "genius" move it is a terrible situation to either miss 2016 holiday release and release in March or perhaps even delay till the next holiday- Nintendo is flat out incompetent for being inthe position they are now in
I see Nintendo still uses "make believe" forecasting for its financials- particulalry re the impact of 1st year new console sales on it s overall performance- there is no way the NX will make up for in soe #of days in March a drop in wii U sales from 2.4 million to 800K particularly when software sales of wii u will also be terrible
what would you call the Wii U from now till the NX releases? A soaring eagle? More like a Kamikaze
They should go a head and change the Wii u s name now to Kamikaze as "lame Duck" is just ill but the wii u is dead
nice article- but Nintendo s stock has dropped 9% since their fiscal year end announcements- the article said 1% but i m not sure what day it was written- I do not see how their profit will rise or their revenue will stay the same as they did not indicate what would be falling all the gaps other than mobile- which wil not be enough- besides their mobile is a partnership w DNA so not all those revenue s or profits are theirs
go look at NINTENDO S own end of year report- 3DS sales are falling fast- it is oe of the reasons their revenue has fallen again for the 8th straight year- this is not an opinion it is fact reported by Nintendo and verified by outside parties and part of their financial statements-
falling sales means the 3Ds is selling less than it did previously ad they (Nintendo) are forecasting that trend to continue- 3ds sales have been falling for at least the last 2 years

These numbers are from Nintendo IR
They are from left to right Nintendo s annual revenue in millions of yen beginning with their fiscal year 2009 and ending in their fiscal year 2016- Fiscal year 2016 marked the 8th consecutive year Nintendo s annual revenue has decreased
You would have to go back to 2003 to find a year which Nintendo s annual revenue was as low as the lates...
This article is nothing but wishful thinking and hot air- e3 and the holiday shopping season are not "arbitrary" or used/scheduled due to "tradition" is this guy serious? Does he actually beleive what e has written? He sounds like an upset child trying to rationalize why his favorite football team kicked an extra point when they needed 2 pts to tie w no time on the clock- YOU CAN T-
There is nothing "smart" about what Nintendo just announced (re...
To Nintendo, those of us who bought the Wii U are just another group of suckers- few companies treat their customers as poorly as Nintendo treats theirs- yes, there are a persistent group of Nintendo fans who will "buy what they are selling" no matter what- but they have lost alot of good fans over the years with that mentality and it is a big reason they are doing so poorly in a growing games market
re your response below:
Yes due to Nintendo s lack of support the wii u struggled from the day they announced it-
Ubisoft supported the wii u about as well (in someways better) than Nintendo did the 1st 9-12+ months-
3rd parties are not to blame for NINTENDO S failed console- for third parties it is a simple business decision- and for the most part 3rd parties made the correct business decision to back away- look at Ubisoft again- they did support th...
