Stealth20k: "We already know 5-6 companies supporting it and the thing has not even been shown yet"
That was similar for the Wii U- there was alot of noise made about third party support to get people excited about the console and to think it would "be different this time" but by the end of the launch window it was all but gone-
We won t know for sure what kind of 3rd party support the NX will have beyond launch (or even for launch so far) b...
such as? The article is pretty accurate- The people that run most of these companies (and all the larger companies) don t care what company they do business with so long as they feel they will make money or at least put themselves in position to make the most money with the least risk- some may do so better than others and some may take slightly more risk than others but in the end they all have investors, shareholders, Board of Directors etc to answer too- They don t favor 1 particula...
what makes you think the NX will have "tons" of 3rd party support?
wonderfulmonkeyman It is up to Nintendo to make their console appealing to the marketplace- If that means getting healthy support from 3rd parties then Nintendo needs to make their console appealing to them- that can be done in many different ways - 3rd parties will support a Nintendo console if it makes business sense for them to do so-- It s just simple business. If Nintendo wants or feel like they need more 3rd party support than they had with the Wii U they will have to make it mo...
Wonderfulmonkeyman: Nintendo was PAINFULLY slow getting meaningful VC games on the Wii U from the beginning- THey released a console that by their won admission lacked enough software and they acknowledged they were having a hard time making HD games- that being the situation and the lack of 3rd party games, one would think Nintendo would try to make up for it in other ways like the VC - It is up to Nintendo to make their console appealing to the marketplace-
The most interesting aspect of EA s comments are that they don t know YET if the NX is going to make sense- That means they don t have the info they need from Nintendo and/or assurances they need from Nintendo- IF EA does not know yet if the NX will make sense then it is almost assured that most major western developers also do not know if the NX will make sense- And the devs/publishers smaller than EA can afford even less to take a risk on the NX before they know enough to be comfortabl...
Nintendo seems to have forgotten that it takes money (investment) to make money. They seem to think people should just buy whatever they can cheaply putout 1st in droves then maybe they will throw them a bone- there is a reason why Nintendo has lost serious market share and revenue (in a rising market) every year since 2008/9
i bought the Wii U at launch for my Son s B-day- I can t think of anything Nintendo can do for me to buy the NX at or close to launch- I ll have to wait long enough to see what direction they will be going w the console (not just launch window but beyond) and how they follow through- Additionally a healthy # of the more important (to my household) games will need to already be released
ok thanks- that's interesting-
I don t ever remember knowing a video games characters age- are the ages referenced in this article just part of a back story or are they actually disclosed in the games?
Capcom apparently just hired Captain Obvious as their CEO-
The question is: Should which if any third party Co s should/can trust Nintendo- Nintendo has to make a viable home for 3rd parties or very few will invest in Nintendo s platform- I think some 3rd parties will hedge their bets and release a game or games around launch and or thru the 1st holiday sales season and others will do Nintendo a favor for the sake of a maintaining and or creating a relationship w Nintendo (you don t ever want to burn bridges in business if you can help it) but i ...
they can only save game data from 1 game unless you delete it for a diff game
unlocking stuff? aka paid dlc nothing not really utilitarian as don t need amiibo s to buy dlc-
Aquietguy- the Wii U did not make a profit- so if that is how you judge success or failure then the wiiu was a failure by your definition as well as others-
You won t find any Nintendo exec, pr person, IR person, annual reports etc that says wii u made a profit- but Iwata did say The wii u cost more to make than they could sell it for
"Amiibo has added utility"????? compared to what? They def don t have added utility compared to Disney Infinity, Skylanders etc. They have the least "utility" of all the Toys to Live genre--- That does not mean they are doomed or will be the next in line to go away- but if they continue to be succesful it won t be for their utility to date
If you really like your Wii U, and there are good reasons to like it, then you also have reason to be let down, upset, disappointed etc. with Nintendo's treatment of it- The length of the lifespan of the Wii U is near meaningless- People are literally saying the March 2017 NX launch instead of Holiday 2016 "at least gives the Wii U a fuller lifespan"???? Not only will the Wii U get not a single more game with a MArch 2017 NX launch compared to a Holiday NX launch, it is...
This is a well written article- don t see many of those in games journalism- but this article is a very accurate and pertinent description of were things are with Nintendo and its dwindling fans right now- The NX is going to need to really be something special-
i would be happy if NX got a healthy cross section of 3rd party - both exclusives and multi plats- don t have to get them all (of course that would be nice)
sd11 i hope they put together a quality console with good support and at least a few more ambitious games than previous also a healthy amount of 3rd party games would be nice too- but i won t buy NX at launch= i decide after a year or so after launch to see which direction the NX will take after the launch
Good article- If Nintendo does not make a game or game series for Amiibo then sales will continue to decline significantly- There are a very limited number of consumers who are willing to buy a ton of amiibos just to collect - and most of those people have already bought their fill or close-
Nintendo s market share as a company has gone down, across the board every year since about 2008- They have not been able to turn that trend around once since then- Since they have not be...
