For one thing, it would completely overshadow the PS3 price drop taking any steam out of Sony's sails.
Very interesting. Could MS bring the Pro system under the price of the Wii?
Definitely true. Street Fighter IV has been there for me this week while I've been dealing with some issues. If it wasn't for for gaming, I'd probably be in a much worse mood this week.
Nice article. I'm very much the same way in letting video games put the worries of life on pause.
The preorder for demo thing definitely needs to stop, you're right. While I can see where some big whig suit could think it's a good idea, to gamers, it's just annoying and causes hostility towards the product. Just look at how much negative press Killzone 2 got for the sole reason of the preorder demo issue.
This is very true. The average game goes by what the see on TV and in-store displays. They aren't out browsing gaming sites and forums for the latest news. When they don't see the product, they don't know about it.
None of my local stores had any promo pieces or anything for Killzone 2, but had huge posters and displays for Resident Evil 5 and such.
Very true. While I see Microsoft and Nintendo commercials a lot, Sony is few and far between. While the hardcore gamer visiting gaming sites and forums knows, the average and casual gamer does not, which is the exactly the demographic every company needs to hit with their advertising to make their product succeed.
Same here. When I was younger, I had a Genesis and my neighbor had an SNES. We'd play some games at my house, some games at his, depending on what was good at the time. It was never about crapping on the other system.
100% agree and bubbles for you!
Too many times interesting and quality articles get quickly buried by fanboy drivel and sensationalist headlines that do nothing but cause flame wars.
Fanboyism is just pointless and it's gotten to level higher than ever seen in video games (more so than the SNES/Genesis days).
Definitely true. I'm still trying to play all of Holiday 2008's amazing titles while mixing in the 2009 games. Tons of great stuff that you miss if you're a major fanboy. Bubbles for you.
The way the deal is structured, first party games are allowed for their platform. Sony can make their game, Microsoft could make one if they chose, and the same with Nintendo. Sony is the only one that chooses to do so.
I'm not positive, but I don't believe the NFL is structured the same way, which is why we don't see first party football games.
Exclusivity runs through 2012, so we've got a few more years. I have a feeling they know the game needs to improve by leaps and bounds if they want to keep the contract.
It's tough to call that objectively since it's two different sports. Comparing baseball to baseball is much more subjective, comparing apples to oranges. People's views on the sports themselves as well as their video game incarnations would have a very large impact on the comparison between NHL 09 and MLB 09 The Show.
I think that's actually a tough call. I'd say either MLB 09 The Show or NHL 09, as both are insanely good games. That's just my opinion.
I don't think MLB 2K9 is as bad as some people are making it out to be. Sure, there are a lot of issues, but I think it's definitely better and more fun than last year's 2K baseball game.
Yeah, The Show definitely has better gameplay again this year. 2K is making huge strides, though, with Visual Concepts at the helm. I think next year it's going to be a much much closer race between these two titles.
That was utterly amazing. It’s great to see stories where gaming helps people, unlike the multitude of mainstream media blitzes on the industry.
His TV was only on for brief spurts. As he stated, after the initial building phase, he was only able to send all units quickly before the TV turned off again. This was his only attack of the match, so he was unable to control attacking certain units, etc.
The DSiWare games are going to be huge. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of bite-sized games and quality titles similar to what we're seeing now on the iPhone.
