Browser slow? No way. I have put my brothers iPod Touch (2nd gen) next to Zune HD. Same wireless G router. Hardly a difference when it comes to most websites. I'm not trying to say that the browser is superior to itouch however it is definitely not slow. Webkit is superior but not to the extent most people would have you believe. Last year I took advantage of the deal and picked Dead Space, Little Big Planet and Resistance 2 (although I had to pick up the later by way of return).
One caveat of the deal is that the third game wrung up is the free game. If you want to return the free game, you must return all the games unopened. In other words, your first and best choice should be the last game....

I hope Heavy Rain turns out as great as I hope. One thing should be clear however in that everyone may not appreciate it. The game is very much an interactive movie mixed with an adventure game; play Indigo Prophecy to get a small idea of what it should be like. Personally, I love QTE. Reminds me of Shenmue. Perhaps one of the reasons I will buy it. The game should be a sleeper hit. My guess is that it won't sell as well as everyone hopes. Niche game and brand new IP are a hard sell for many...

I have yet had the opportunity to play Mag. I downloaded the 2 and a half gig update last night but the servers were closed. Looking forward to it. I wonder if MAG will grab a chunk of the COD: MW2 crowd when it launches in January. My guess is that everyone that played and enjoyed Socom and Warhawk will purchase it.
What good are they? More games sell on the 360, period, hence why you could argue that any demographic statement could work. The existence of Halo and the popularity of Call of Duty on Xbox propagates this stereotype. Would it be fair to say that the Xbox has a large sports/racing demographic? It does in fact. Forza has a large fan base and Madden sells more on the ole' box. Generalizations do not equal the truth.

Fear? Right... Why does your cell phone company and favorite electronics retailer offer rebates? Rebates give you the perception your getting something much cheaper. Basically, you get pay full price and wait for months to get a rebate check. All in all, you get a benefit in getting a cheaper product (if your able to wait and have legible handwriting) and Microsoft gets a new consumer. Win Win imo. I'm in love with my Zune HD. It does everything I want my PMP to do. Intuitive interface? Check. Gorgeous screen and chassis? Check. HD radio is a big plus in addition to excellent battery life and blazing fast Tegra processor.
Also, the relevance of the comparison is kind of lost on me. I get it. No apps. Wait 6 months and then compare to the itouch and not the iphone.
The funny thing is that ODST will sell more than any PS3 exclusive this Fall guaranteed despite what PS3 fanboys might say, Gran Turismo 5 included.
The only company that seems to get the pricing right is EA surprisingly. Most of their games are $20. Eventually someone is going to wake up and realize that the pricing is way too much. I think Games on Demand would be more successful if you could rent them.

I'm undecided if NGS2 warrants a second (repurchase)purchase for ME. The graphics are better, sure. The story, new characters and team co-op are great. However, after playing through the first level it feels much the same. If you think likewise, cool, however I bet you haven't played the "horrible" 360 version as much as I have. I like the new additions such as the bow mapped to L2 and R2 to shoot, and streamlined everything; I just need to see more.

The Zune HD browser is proficient...unless you through lots of Java Script at it. It goes to show its IE roots. You might be surprised however if you use one yourself. It loads N4G quite well and has pinch/zoom.
Once again, the ads aren't intrusive. If I had paid a dollar for every app available, I would be out $9. Small price to pay imo. I think that the reaction to ads in free apps is enough to discourage M$ to put ads in paid (that would be stupid).
