Great review, and score the only thing I don't agree with is lasting appeal. It should have got a 10. 10 hour Single player, 8 player co-op around 10 hours, and a huge 60 player online to go with. And the fact that it take a lot to level up will make grinding to max levels a serious task for gamers. Other than that good review and I would have gave it the exact same score.
Not 1 but 2 E3's. I don't understand why everyone's so surprised by this score from 1up, they've always had nothing, but very high praise for this game. I didn't expect anything below and "A" from them on this game.

If everything he says about the PS3 is true then in 2009 the PS3 will surpass the 360 in sells and no later than 2010. GTA 5 exclusive for the PS3 as an MMO (they already have an online version of this). GOW 3 Heavy Rain, Mass Effect 2, Eye Pet and many other games look as good if not better than Killzone 2. Gears of War 3 has a chance of coming to PS3 (I doubt Microsoft will let this happen). Sony acquiring Level 5. Trophies giving you access to betas and exclusive content for games. <...

This is easily the best looking game on consoles "Period". Nothing compares to this. Gears 2 nope, MGS4 nope, Uncharted nope. Just imagine these graphics becoming the standard for first party PS3 games in a couple of years.

I'm beginning to lose faith in this site. When I first came here, there was always good news, no matter what console you had. Now it's always "Is this the end of Sony", "Has the 360 reached it's peak", so on and so on.
Give us a break. This site is a hub for console war junkies, and I'm getting really sick of having to skim through pages, upon pages of junk news just so people can have something to argue about. For example the Metacritic LBP, and Gears 2 ...
It's silly that everyone is taking this so seriously. Who looks a user scores as the deciding factor in buying a game anyway. There are always those idiots who try to lower a games overall score just for the heck of it.
I'm sure that some of the people who did this were indeed PS3 owners out for revenge for the LBP incident, but the main culprits are probably the same people who gave LBP the low score to begin with. It's probably just a bunch of people who want some attention,...
It looks great because Namco made it. Al Namco's games have looked great on the PS3. They are one of the few developers who aren't afraid to get their hands, and make a true version of their game for the PS3, instead of some crappy port.
Only 1st party, Japanese developers, and the COD engine games have done the PS3 justice so far. Feel free to add other engines if you can think of some.
Graphically it looks pretty impressive, but there are wayyyyy to many quick time events. I love GOW and I know it has a lot of QTE's, but they actually take place during the game and actually feel like a part of the gameplay rather than a flashy scen for you to watch.
I was hoping for a successor to Ninja Gaiden, but this deosn't seem to be it. Still it looks like a decent game, based off this video.
I was impressed, by that clip. It still looks very good, (not as much of an impact that the first Gears had) and the story actually seemed more important.
Stop bashing Gears 2, and let it be.
As I said countless times, I'm the biggest Resistance fan and I hope both games do well. But Resistance is going to be so awesome I can't wait 2 weeks to go.
It did give a Silent Hill kind of vibe. I hope it's not, but that's what it looks like.
I'm really hoping this game turns out to be something good. Remedy has been working on this game forever, and it would suck for them to put all that time into something that turns out to be underwhelming.
I think this game is going to compared to Heavy Rain, since they're coming out around the same year, and both seem to be heavily story driven. I wish the best of luck to both ...

OMG I was expecting him to be kind of snobby when asked about the PS3. But to my surprise he stayed humble for once. This article made me like Cliffy a little more.
And the fact that Gears 2 will rock.
I though All 3 games they reviewed today were going to get a 5/5, but Dead Space only got a 4/5.
